PETERSEN MEDIA: While competing in a Keith Kunz Motorsports Midget over the weekend at Merced Speedway, Friday night saw Tanner Carrick do the ‘Double’ as he was also in competition aboard the Carrick Motorsports No. 83T Winged Sprint Car where he would pick up a seventh-place finish.
“It was pretty cool to also run the family sprint car on Friday night as well as the Midget,” Carrick said. “We had a pretty good run, and I am looking forward to two more nights in the sprint car this weekend in Arizona.”
With 49 cars checked in for the stand alone show at the bullring in Merced, CA, Carrick got his night underway by timing his CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 83T machine in fourth quickest in his qualifying group.
Heat race competition saw the Lincoln, CA pilot pick up a second-place finish which would be good enough to move him directly into the 30-lap Winged 360 feature event.
Lining up 13th in the feature event, Carrick would have a very good car underneath him that allowed his to move forward on the slick ¼ mile speedway. Working his way into the Top-10, Carrick would continue to look for more as the race got into a very long green-flag run.
Carrick would get into the seventh position as he battled with Garret Williamson and Michael Faccinto late in the feature.
When the checkered flag was displayed to the star-studded field, Carrick closed his night out with a seventh-place finish.
“It is fun when you get to a track that nobody really has a lot of laps at,” Carrick said. “Everyone works a little harder to figure it out, and my guys did a great job all night. We had a good car, and we came away with a Top-10.”
