PETERSEN MEDIA: After a weekend off, Tanner Carrick and his Carrick Motorsports team made the trip to Hanford, CA and Tulare, CA with the KWS/NARC series over the weekend. Having some struggles at Keller Auto Speedway on Friday night, Carrick tuned up for this week’s Trophy Cup in Tulare, CA on Saturday night by picking up a ninth-place finish at Dennis Roth Classic.
“We made a couple of changes before the feature in Hanford, CA on Friday night and it made it too tough on us to run the cushion like we needed to,” Tanner Carrick said. “Saturday night in Tulare, CA qualifying really hurt us, and we dug out of a hole all night long. Overall, I thought we had good speed, we will just really need to be on our game for Trophy Cup this week.”
Getting the busy weekend kicked off on Friday night in Hanford, CA, Carrick timed the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 83T in second fastest in qualifying time trials before racing to a third-place finish in his heat race.
Moving into the 30-lap Anthony Simone Classic feature event, Carrick took the green flag from the 12th starting position. Struggling to work the thick cushion that had built up around Keller Auto Speedway, Carrick would slowly drift back through the field.
Doing what he could to find grip on the slick surface, Carrick would search the middle and bottom of the speedway as he was simply too tight to try the cushion.
When the 30-lapper came to a close, Carrick was officially scored with a 20th place finish.
Saturday night the scene shifted to Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA for the inaugural Dennis Roth Classic and one final shot to get laps in preparations for this week’s Trophy Cup.
Timing in 13th fastest in time trials, Carrick would miss the heat race inversion and line up fifth. Finishing fifth, Carrick moved into the Dennis Roth Classic feature event as he took the green flag from the 13th starting position.
On a racy Thunderbowl surface, the Lincoln, CA driver had his elbows up as he mixed it up and charged around the high banked 1/3 mile oval. Working into the Top-10, Carrick would battle with the likes of Tim Kaeding, Austin McCarl and Justyn Cox late in the feature event.
When the hard fought race concluded, Carrick closed his weekend out with a ninth place finish.
Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Hanson Truss, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support
BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 56, Wins: 6, Top 5’s: 22, Top 10’s: 32
