Tanner Carrick Battles for Silver Cup Top-10

PETERSEN MEDIA: Friday night in Chico, CA, Tanner Carrick held on to pick up an eighth-place finish at the Silver Cup after enduring power steering issues early in the feature event.

“We had a really fast racecar on Friday night, and the night was going extremely well,” Tanner Carrick said. “Unfortunately, early in the feature event I lost power steering and had to hang on.”

Carrick timed the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 83T machine in 14th quickest and found himself on the front row of his heat race. When the race got underway, Carrick slipped back to second and began chasing after Stephen Ingraham.

In a spirited battle with Ingraham, Carrick made a big-time last lap move in three and four to pick up the win and earn a spot in the nightly redraw.

Pulling the five pill, Carrick rolled off of the starting grid from the third row for the 40-lap feature event. When the race went green, Carrick would run inside the Top-Five on the lightning fast surface.

Losing power steering, Carrick then would have his hands full as he had to go into a bit of defense mode as he had to wrestle his machine around the ¼ mile bullring. On the hooked-up surface, this would be no easy feat but the Lincoln, CA driver held his own and capped the night off with an eighth place finish.

“I am really happy with how things have felt early this year,” Carrick said. “Hoping things continue to go this way when we are able to race and we can get a couple of wins. Thanks to my crew, my family and all our partners.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Arai, and Spike Chassis for their support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 5, Wins: 0, Top 5’s: 0, Top 10’s: 3
