Tanner Carrick Captures Pair of Top-5’s

PETERSEN MEDIA: In action at Silver Dollar Speedway and Marysville Raceway over this past weekend, Tanner Carrick performed well as he was fifth on Friday night at the David Tarter Memorial before scoring a second-place finish on Saturday night in Marysville, CA.

“We were really solid all weekend, but my drawing skills have been less to be desired on some of these nights where it is tough to pass,” Tanner Carrick said. “I was happy we had a fast car all weekend long, and I’m hopeful that we can pick up a few spots this weekend.”

Friday night, Carrick made his way to Silver Dollar Speedway to take part in the David Tarter Memorial.

A total of 41 cars checked into the pit area, and Carrick timed the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed no. 83T in second fastest in his qualifying group.

With heat races lined up straight off of times with no inversion, Carrick was on the front row of the eight-lap shootout with the top-two finishers earning a berth in the nightly redraw.

Getting the jump when the green lights flashed, Carrick powered to the early lead and never looked back. Racing to heat race win, Carrick was locked into the 35-lap feature event where he lined up seventh based on his draw.

On a very slick racing surface that proved tough to pass on at times, Carrick searched high and low as he vied for position inside the Top-Five.

Racing his way into sixth on the 23rd lap, Carrick was able to grab fifth on lap 32. Hanging on to the final spot in the top five for the final three laps, Carrick closed Friday night out with his 10th Top-Five on the season.

Making the trip to Marysville Raceway on Saturday night for the track’s Father’s Day celebration, Carrick got the night underway by timing in eighth fastest before picking up another heat race win.

Pulling the five in the redraw, Carrick was set to roll from the third row on a track that offered up some moisture and still had some speed left in it for the feature event.

Working his way into third after a couple of early restarts, Carrick took over second on the 17th lap and began his pursuit of race leader, Andy Forsberg.

Closing in on Forsberg, Carrick had a prime opportunity to battle for the win as the yellow flew on the final lap, and set up a green-white-checkered finish.

With Forsberg getting a good jump, Carrick didn’t quite have enough time to get back to him as he capped his weekend off with a second-place finish.

“Thanks to my guys for their hard work,” Carrick said. “I think if we can have our car the same this weekend, we have a shot to battle up front again at Ocean Speedway and Placerville Speedway.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Hanson Truss, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 21, Wins: 1, Top 5’s: 11, Top 10’s: 14
