Tanner Carrick Eyes Another NorCal Posse Shootout Crown After Wrapping High Limit Racing Swing

PETERSEN MEDIA: Spending the last two weeks running with High Limit Racing during their swing in California, things return to normal as Tanner Carrick now has his eyes set on another Nor*Cal Posse Shootout win as Placerville Speedway plays host to an unsanctioned 360ci show this Saturday and Sunday night.

“It was an up and down swing for us, but it is always good to run against those guys,” Tanner Carrick said. “We would have liked to have ran a little better, but we will now focus on some big races we still have left out here to run.”

This past weekend saw Carrick and the CVC/Cemex/CA Waterfowl No. 83T team battle in Chico, CA for the Gold Cup Race of Champions.

Racing his way directly into his Thursday night prelim feature, Carrick took the green flag from the 14th starting position. Getting off to a good start, Carrick was up into sixth on the fifth lap, but he’d run into a little trouble on the eight lap as he got over the edge of the surface in turns three and four and fall back to 12th.

Getting back into 11th, some hard racing in the closing laps saw Carrick ultimately slip back to a 16th place finish when the checkered flag flew on his qualifying night.

Lining up seventh in his Saturday night heat race, Carrick needed to get ingo fourth to transfer directly into the 40-lap feature event. With his elbows up, the Lincoln, CA native worked hard as he ran towards a transfer spot.

Settling for fifth at the checkered, even though he didn’t transfer out of his heat race, it put Carrick in a good spot heading into the ‘B Main’ event.

Lining up fourth in the semi, Carrick got a strong start as he launched into second and gave himself a couple of insurance spots to play with. Keeping a tight hold on the runner up position, Carrick finished second and was safely in the 70th Gold Cup Race of Champions feature event.

Lining up 21st on the starting grid, passing from deep in the pack proved to be tricky with the track having a ton of grip and speed in it. Racing into the Top-15 in just the first 14 laps of the race, Carrick got as high as 13th, but ultimately settled for a 15th place finish when the race came to an end.

“Big thanks to Clark and Shay for working so hard, and putting us in a good position to make the big show when it was all said and done,” Carrick said. “I am looking forward to Placerville Speedway this weekend because we have been really strong the last couple times out in our 360ci package.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, California Waterfowl, Interstate Oil, D.R. Horton, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Hanson Truss, TC Guide Service, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 47, Wins: 6, Top 5’s: 22, Top 10’s: 29
