PETERSEN MEDIA: Competing at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night aboard the Tanner Carrick Racing No. 83T, Tanner Carrick would work his way from the ‘B’ Main to finish 13th during the track’s regular season finale.
“The track was pretty good, and we were able to move around in the feature after coming from the semi and battle with some good guys,” Tanner Carrick said.
Timing the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed machine in sixth quickest in qualifying time trials with 29 cars checked in the pit area, the Lincoln, CA driver would grid the field from the second row of his heat race.
Falling back a little in heat race competition, Carrick would finish in the sixth spot, which forced him into the nightly ‘B’ Main. Finishing second in the semi, Carrick would punch his ticket into the 25-lap feature event where he would take the green flag from the 11th starting position.
On an immaculately prepared Placerville Speedway racing surface, Carrick was able to battle hard with the likes of Mason Moore, and Keith Kunz teammate Ryan Robinson. Jumping up into the 10th spot when the race came to life, Carrick would hook up in a tight battle that would see him fall back as far as 15th at one point, as cars raced wheel to wheel in a tight pack.
Continuing to make laps and get comfortable on the tricky ¼ mile speedway, Carrick never flinched as he continued to focus on hitting his marks as he went wheel-to-wheel with some Placerville veterans.
As the laps continued to click off, Carrick would find himself back up in front of the pack that he raced in for a few laps as we would surge back up to 12th in the closing laps, and when the checkered flag flew on the 25-lapper he would come home with a 13th place finish.
“There was some good battling that went on in the feature event, and it was good for us to be in there mixing it up,” Carrick said. “Thanks to everyone that continues to help our race team out.”
Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, and Timberworks Construction for their support.
ON TAP: Tanner Carrick will get back to Placerville Speedway on Thursday night as he will shed the wings and take part in a non-wing event at the speedway before running Eldora Speedway on Saturday night back aboard a Keith Kunz Motorsports midget.
