PETERSEN MEDIA: Competing with the POWRi Series in Oklahoma during four-day Turnpike Challenge, Tanner Carrick would show a ton of speed in his Keith Kunz Motorsports entry however the results just weren’t where the team hoped they would be.

“We had a really fast car, we just didn’t have any luck on our side and it kept us from some strong finishes,” Tanner Carrick said.

After a great practice night on Wednesday night, Carrick came opened the busy week up on Thursday night at Creek County Speedway by advancing from fourth to grab the win during his heat race.

Moving into a qualifier, the Lincoln, CA driver had his elbows up aboard the Craftsman/CVC/TRD backed No. 71K machine as his charge from sixth to first was good enough to put him on the pole of the feature event.

Going toe-to-toe with fellow Keith Kunz Motorsports teammate, Christopher Bell, Carrick would put on a show as he was relentless in his efforts against the NASCAR standout. Thrilling the fans for nearly half the race, Carrick would stall his machine out and be forced to the tail end of the field.

In just a few laps, Carrick would do all he could to salvage his night as he accepted the checkered flag with an 11th place finish.

Traveling to Oklahoma City, OK on Friday night for the first of two nights at I-44 Riverside Speedway, a fifth place finish in heat race action would just narrowly be good enough to put Carrick in a qualifier.

Starting ninth in his qualifier, Carrick would have a nice showing as he made things interesting. Working his way up to a fifth place finish, Carrick would just narrowly miss the transfer into the feature event and would find himself on the front row of a ‘B’ Main.

Getting the win over Jerry Coons, Jr, Carrick would punch his ticket into the feature event where he gridded the field from the 18th starting position. On a racy surface, Carrick would simply put his KKM prepared entry where they weren’t as he sliced and diced his way forward to pocket an 11th place finish.

Saturday night the youngster would continue to flex his muscle in the sooner state as he ripped his way through the field going from seventh to second in heat race action.

Following a sixth place finish in his qualifier, Carrick moved into the feature event where he would take the green flag from the 12th starting position. Mixing it up inside the Top-10 during much of the Friday night feature event, Carrick would settle into 9th late in the race and go on to finish there.

Port City Raceway in Tulsa, OK was the final destination for what was a busy week. Surging to the win in the seventh and final heat race of the night, Carrick would follow his performance up by advancing from fourth to first in qualifier action which would put him in the second row for the final feature event of the week.

When the green flag was displayed to the field, Carrick would get involved in a first corner tangle, which would relegate him to the back of the pack.

On a track that proved to be tricky to make up ground in the feature, Carrick would show his patience as he capped a busy week with a 19th place finish.

“A few of the nights it was definitely disappointing to not finish better than we did, but we really had a fast car each time we hit the track,” Carrick added. “I have to thank all of my guys and all of our partners for their hard work and continued support.”

Tanner Carrick and the Keith Kunz Motorsports team would like to thank Craftsman, CVC, TRD, Spike Chassis, Cemex, Arai, and Shell Shock for their support.
