PETERSEN MEDIA: After a grueling stretch with High Limit Racing, Tanner Carrick returned to form over the weekend in Placerville, CA as he picked up a sixth place finish to open the Nor*Cal Posse Shootout on Saturday night before a third place effort during Sunday night’s finale.
“We definitely struggled at times racing with the High Limit guys, so it felt good to put some tough races behind us and be back up front and battling for wins,” Tanner Carrick said. “Sunday night I started third and kind of took too long to figure out what I needed to do to get going. We held the spot all race long, and even got into second briefly.”
Following an impressive run from 12th to 6th to open the weekend up on Saturday night, Carrick got Sunday off to a quick start as he stopped the clock in time trials with the 7th fastest lap of the night amongst the 31 cars that were checked into the pit area.
Lining up on the pole of his heat race, it was vital to get the jump as the win also came with a berth in the Trophy Dash. Getting the jump over Tony Gomes, Carrick worked the ¼ mile bullring to perfection.
Grabbing the win, the Lincoln, CA driver was able to punch his ticket into both the Dash and the feature event as he took the green flag from the eighth starting position in the six-lap shootout.
Having a very impressive showing in the Dash, the Lincoln, CA driver had a very good CVC/CWA/Cemex No. 83T entry under him as he put on a show and battled his way to a third-place finish.
With the finish, Carrick found himself in the second row of the 35-lap feature event as he chased after the $8000 top prize that was up for grabs on this night.
On the slick Placerville Speedway surface, Carrick settled into third as the race came to life. While running in third he chased after former Australian Champion, Jock Goodyer, and current High Limit Racing regular, Justin Peck.
Stalking the two Carrick got close to Peck on the 20th lap, and briefly took over second, but then quickly found himself back in fourth as Bubba DeCaires briefly entered the battle.
As the race moved along, Carrick was able to use a late move to get by Peck and take the third and final spot on the podium when the checkered flag flew.
“I needed to make some decisions earlier which probably cost us a little, but all in all it was a good weekend for us, and great to get back up on the podium at Placerville Speedway,” Carrick added.
Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, California Waterfowl, Interstate Oil, D.R. Horton, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Hanson Truss, TC Guide Service, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.
BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 49, Wins: 6, Top 5’s: 23, Top 10’s: 31
ON TAP: Carrick now will battle the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars on Friday night at Stockton Dirt Track before returning to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.
