PETERSEN MEDIA: Looking to shaking a string of recent bad luck, Tanner Carrick had an up and down weekend at Valley Speedway with the Keith Kunz Motorsports team that saw him finish 13th on Friday night before mechanical issues knocked him out of the show while running inside the Top-10 on Saturday.

“It wasn’t the end to the weekend we were hoping for as a team, but there was a lot of good that went on during the two nights, and with how things have been going it is a positive,” Tanner Carrick said.

Taking on the Lucas Oil POWRi Midget Series during a two-day tilt at Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, MO, Carrick would draw well for his heat race on Friday night as he line the TRD/Curb Records/IPC backed machine up in the second row of his heat race.

Picking up a valuable position during the heat, the Lincoln, CA driver would finish in the second position which gave him enough points to move the Walker Performance Filtration/Cemex/CVC machine into the feature event.

Lining up in the sixth row, Carrick would get off to a nice start as he began slicing and dicing through the field with precision. Getting a little out of shape on the bottom, Carrick would lose several positions and give up position that he had worked so hard for.

Gathering himself back up, Carrick would worki his way back up to finish 13th at the stripe.

Returning to Valley Speedway on Saturday night, Carrick would find himself in the third row of his heat race after his draw and would have his work cut out for him so to speak. Picking up two positions in the heat, a third place finish would be enough to transfer directly to the feature event.

Taking the green flag from the 13th starting position, Carrick again showed he had another great car in the feature event as he moved forward for the second night-in-a-row.

Getting inside the Top-10 in just a matter of laps, Carrick continued to charge forward as he would get up as high as the seventh spot. In a hotly contested battle, Carrick would come up lame on the 13th lap as mechanical issues ultimately ended the youngster’s night.

“We moved forward both nights and we were really fast, so that is a good thing,” Carrick noted. “Thanks again to Keith, Pete, and everyone that works so hard for me, and to all the great people that support this team.”

Tanner Carrick and the Keith Kunz Motorsports team would like to thank TRD, Curb Records, IPC, Walker Performance Filtration, Cemex, CVC, and Shell Shock for their support.

ON TAP: Tanner Carrick will return to his native California this weekend as he will compete aboard the family owned Sprint Car on Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA and on Saturday night in Placerville, CA.
