Tanner Carrick Looks Forward to Winged Weekend After Tough Mid-America Midget Week

PETERSEN MEDIA: Taking part in Mid-America Midget Week with the Petry Motorsports team, a week riddled with bad luck as Tanner Carrick looking forward to a weekend of winged racing in his native California.

“We just had bad luck all weekend long it seemed like,” Tanner Carrick said. “Friday and Saturday, we struggled a bit, but Sunday and Tuesday we were really good, just kind of got caught up in some bad luck.”

At Jefferson County Speedway in Nebraska both Friday night and Saturday night, Carrick would open the four-race stretch up by claiming an 11th place finish aboard the Arai/K1 Race Gear/Mobil1 backed entry, before finishing 10th on Saturday night.

Heading to Kansas on Sunday night, Carrick would have a good night going at Caney Valley Speedway as he kicked the night off by timing in 10th fastest in time trials.

Finishing third in his heat race, the Lincoln, CA driver would line up 10th in the feature event. Coming alive in the ‘A’, Carrick showcased a very strong car as he worked his way through the field with precision.

Getting into third, a car would get out of shape in front of him as he looked to make a move on second and with nowhere to go, he would get collected and end up finishing 17th.

Tuesday night brought the close to Mid-America Midget Week as the series checked into Red Dirt Raceway in Meeker, OK.

Having engine issues in hot laps, the team was able to just get a new bullet into Carrick’s machine and narrowly make time trials where he would time in 12th quickest.

Running second in his heat race, Carrick transferred directly into the 30-lap where he would take the green flag from the 15th starting position. Just as he did on Sunday night, Carrick was able to survive some early yellow’s and make his way into the Top-5 late in the feature.

Getting up into fourth, Carrick would pressure for a spot on the podium but close quarters racing action would see him get squeezed into a infield tire and cause front end damage as he slipped back to fifth.

Trying to hang on, the issues would finally give way, and Carrick’s night would come to an end with a 16th place finish.

“We had an awesome car, just no luck,” Carrick said. “Thanks to the guys for all of their hard work. Now I will head to CA and get some laps in the family sprint car this weekend.”

Tanner Carrick at Petry Motorsports would like to thank Arai, K1 Race Gear, Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Keizer Wheels, ZMax, DR Horton, Toyota TRD, CVC, Cemex, BK Titanium, Interstate Oil Company, Emerald, and Harris & Sloan for their support.
