PETERSEN MEDIA: Continuing to sneak in Sprint Car races when there are breaks in his Keith Kunz Motorsports schedule, Tanner Carrick returned to California for two nights of Civil War Series action and recorded a ninth place finish on Saturday night in Marysville, CA before contact with an out of shape car late in Sunday’s feature relegated him to a 12th place finish.

“Saturday night we were tight early in the night and it set us back, but Clark Riolo and the guys really went to work and we were able to make some moves in the feature,” Tanner Carrick said.

With 29 cars checked into Marysville Raceway for the Mel Hall Memorial, Carrick would time his CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 83T machine in 17th quickest in qualifying time trials.

On a wicked fast surface in heat race action, Carrick would roll off the starting grid in the fifth starting position and fighting for the final transfer into the feature event the Lincoln, CA pilot would finish sixth and find himself on the semi.

Continuing to make adjustments to Carrick’s Spike Chassis, things would seemingly come together in the semi as the youngster would make some nice moves from his third starting position to take the race lead and race his way to the win. By way of the win, Carrick kept his night alive as he moved into the feature event.

Taking the green flag from the 16th starting position, Carrick would continue his progress from the semi as he again started working his way forward on a fast racing surface.

Battling hard against some veteran drivers, Carrick would make some nice moves around the tricky Marysville Raceway as he closed his night out with a great charge to finish ninth.

Heading north to Chico, CA on Sunday night for the annual Silver Dollar Fair race, 41 cars would pack into the pit area and Carrick would kick the night off by timing the Conti, Harris, and Sloan/Emerald/Timberworks machine in 21st quickest in qualifying time trials.

Behind the eight ball early, Carrick would get by Andy Forsberg in heat race action to earn the fourth and final transfer position to the feature event where he would take the green flag from the 16th starting position for the second consecutive night.

A very racy surface was provided to the teams on this night for the 30-lap feature event and Carrick would run very well against a loaded field.

Taking advantage of some restarts, Carrick would work his way up as high as the 10th spot right around the race’s halfway point.

Slipping back to 12th with 10-to-go, Carrick would use a restart on with seven to go to get back up into the Top-10 before contact with a car that got out of shape in front of him left his machine with some front end damage though he continued on.

The last few laps would be tough for Carrick and it would result in him giving a few spots as he finished in the 12th spot.

“I really have to thank Clark and all the guys for their hard work,” Carrick added. “I am thankful to get a couple sprint car races in before a pretty busy stretch back in Indiana the next few weeks.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Arai, and Spike Chassis for their support.
