Tanner Carrick Picks Up a Pair of Top-5’s

PETERSEN MEDIA: Tanner Carrick has continued to stay red hot through the month of April, and he capped the month off with a pair of Top-Five’s as he ran second on Friday night at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA and 5th on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway.

“It was a good weekend for our team, but I think we could have been even better,” Tanner Carrick said. “They weren’t our best nights by any means, but if we are still up front when were a little off, that feels really good.”

Looking for his third consecutive win at Ocean Speedway in Watsovnille, CA, Carrick and company made their way down to the coastal bullring on Friday night where the Lincoln, CA driver timed the CVC/Cemex/California Waterfowl backed No. 83T in fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Carrick continued to flex his muscle at the track as he surged to a second place finish and punched his ticket into the Dash.

Drawing the four in the Dash draw, Carrick mirrored his heat race effort as a fourth to second run in the Dash put him on the front row of the feature event.

Settling into second in the opening laps of Friday’s feature event, Carrick gave chase to Dominic Gorden until Bud Kaeding was able to get around him on the race’s fifth lap.

Running in third, Carrick moved into second on the 17th lap as he continued to stalk Kaeding who was now out front and in control of the race. With Kaeding able to keep a healthy gap between himself and Carrick, Carrick’s streak came to a close as he took the checkered flag with a second place finish.

Saturday night, the Carrick Motorsports team headed to Placerville Speedway in Placerville, CA for the track’s first sprint car event of the 2024 season.

Qualifying second fastest in his qualifying flight, Carrick found himself in the second row of his heat race where a second place finish moved him into the 30-lapper as well as made himself redraw eligible.

Pulling the three, Carrick slipped back to fourth when the action went green. With the opening stanzas slowed by stoppages, Carrick ultimately settled into fourth when the race got into a flow.

Moving into third at the race’s halfway point, a restart saw Carrick slip back to fourth before he found himself in fifth with five laps to go.

Keeping his machine in the fifth spot, Carrick capped the weekend off with his second Top-Five.

“Thanks to my team for all of their hard work,” Carrick said. “We were really solid, and have been solid with the 360ci car. Looking forward to Tulare this weekend with the 410ci car.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, California Waterfowl, Interstate Oil, D.R. Horton, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Hanson Truss, TC Guide Service, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 13, Wins: 4, Top 5’s: 9, Top 10’s: 12
