PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, Tanner Carrick took part in both the USAC Western States Midget Series event as well as the winged 360ci event and ran well in both as he took second din the midget and third in sprint car action.
“It was a fun night at Placerville Speedway,” Tanner Carrick said. “I have to thank the Sarale family for the opportunity to run one of their midgets, I just wish I could have gotten them the win. I also have to thank my team for giving me a really good car again at Placerville.”
With 25 winged 360ci sprint cars on hand for the Placerville Speedway’s point paying event, Carrick got the night kicked off by timing the CVC/CWA/Cemex backed No. 83T entry in second fastest in qualifying time trials.
Lining up fourth in his heat race, Carrick simply needed to transfer into the feature event to earn a berth in the redraw. The Lincoln, CA driver did just that as his fourth place finish moved his night along and then the five-pill placed him in the third row for the 25-lapper.
When the feature event went green, Carrick was patient in the early laps as he settled into fifth before using a lap six restart to race into third. Once in third, Carrick chased after the lead duo of Austin Wood and Chance Grasty, but each time traffic came into the equation an untimely yellow would fly.
Holding on firmly to third, Carrick accepted the checkered flag with another podium at the ¼ mile bullring as finished in the show position.
Also taking part in USAC Western States Midget action, Carrick acclimated to the Sarale Motorsports No. 32X entry quickly as he paced the field in qualifying and earned fast time honors.
Lining up in the third row of his heat race, Carrick had his elbows up as he sliced and diced his way forward. Racing his way into second, Carrick solidified himself in the feature event inversion as he took the green flag from the sixth starting spot.
On the slick surface, Carrick worked his way forward as he chased after early leader, Cade Lewis.
Unable to catch Lewis as they ran through traffic, Carrick capped off a very strong night as he finished second giving him his second podium of the night.
“Really good night in both cars, and it was fun to rip around the slick surface all night long,” Carrick said. “Thank you to everyone who makes it all possible.”
Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, California Waterfowl, Interstate Oil, D.R. Horton, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Hanson Truss, TC Guide Service, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.
