PETERSEN MEDIA: Tanner Carrick and his Keith Kunz Motorsports team were able to put an exclamation point on a very busy two week stretch that culminated with Carrick finishing second in Illinois Midget Week points on the strength of three Top-10 finishes including a second place run at Fayette County Speedway.

“It was a really tough couple of weeks, but a lot of fun and I have to thank my team for their hard work,” Carrick said. “We had a really good three-race stretch in Illinois and it is cool to end up second in the Speedweek points.”

“Though Mother Nature had her way in the final two events, the five race Speedweek would be shortened to three events and it would get underway at Belle-Clair Speedway.

Carrick would open the Speedweek up by claiming a heat race win aboard the CVC/TRD/Spike Chassis machine and move into the feature event where he would roll of the starting grid from the 11th starting position.

On a racy surface, Carrick would get his elbows up as he fought his way forward in the early goings and settled into the seventh position. Getting into a bit of a tangle, Carrick would be forced to give up his position in the Top-10 and go to tail end of the field.

Not letting the mishap phase him, Carrick would continue to show speed on the racy bullring as he carved his way back forward and took the checkered flag with a seventh place finish.

Traveling to Brownstown Speedway on Thursday night, Carrick would overcome a tough pill draw as he was able to surge from his seventh starting position in heat race action to finish second and move into the feature event where he would line up on the front row alongside fellow Californian, Tanner Thorson.

When the green lights flashed on, Carrick would mash the throttle as he went toe-to-toe with his fellow KKM teammate as he ran second but stayed within striking distance all race long.

Getting up to challenge Thorson on a few occasions, Carrick would be unable to make anything stick as he would close his night out with an extremely strong second place finish.

Looking to stay in his groove as the scene shifted to Jacksonville, IL on Friday night, Carrick would continue to flex his muscle as he picked up his second heat race win of the week by charging from his fourth starting position.

Gridding the field from the second row for what would end up being the final night of Illinois Speedweek, Carrick would again showcase an extremely strong Keith Kunz prepared Spike Chassis as he jumped into second when the race came to life.

Looking to again land on another POWRi podium, Carrick would look very strong in second as he pounded the cushion lap after lap. As the laps clicked off, Carrick would make a slight mistake that saw him come into contact with the wall and break his momentum.

Losing a few spots, Carrick would settle into sixth where he would go on to finish and cap his Speedweek second in the overall standings.

“To have a fast car night in and night out is really something,” Tanner Carrick added. “These guys work around the clock during these Speedweek’s and I am really fortunate, and thankful to be a part of it all. I really have to send a huge thank you to Keith, Pete, and all of the guys who work so hard for all of us.”

Tanner Carrick and the Keith Kunz Motorsports team would like to thank CVC, TRD, Spike Chassis, Cemex, Arai, and Shell Shock for their support.
