PETERSEN MEDIA: Taking part in the 78th Annual Turkey Night Grand Prix last week, Tanner Carrick would put together a great night that saw him earn quick time honors and take home a sixth place finish.

“It was a good night for us,” Carrick said. “We had a great car, timed in well and came away with a sixth place finish.”

Running the special Turkey Night Grand Prix format, Carrick would handle business early in the night as he timed the CVC/TRD/Spike Chassis entry in fastest in qualifications.

By way of his qualifying effort, Carrick would move directly into the 98-lap feature event where he would lead the star-studded field to the green flag.

When the race came to life, Carrick would see fellow front row starter Chad Boat get the jump and he would begin to battle with fellow Keith Kunz Motorsports teammates, Kyle Larson and Tucker Klaasmeyer as they battled hard inside the Top-Five.

As the long race continued to click on, Carrick would continue to hold strong in a big battle of KKM cars as soon Christopher Bell joined the mix as laps clicked off quickly on the tight confines of Ventura Raceway. Falling outside of the Top-Five late in the race, Carrick would take the checkered flag in sixth.

Aside from competing in a Midget at Turkey Night, Carrick was also in action aboard the Tanner Carrick Racing No. 83T Non-Winged Sprint Car.

With heats and qualifiers taking place on Wednesday night, Carrick would pocket a seventh place finish in heat race action before finishing fifth in a qualifier.

Finding himself in one of the trio of Thursday night ‘B’ Mains, Carrick would pick up the win in the 12-lap affair and move into the ‘Battle at the Beach’ feature event.

By way of his win, Carrick would grid the field from the 13th starting position on what was a racy surface for the sprint car feature. Despite having little non-winged sprint car seat time, the Lincoln, CA pilot was able to work his way into the Top-10.

Doing a great job of working his way forward, Carrick would close his visit to Ventura, CA out with a ninth place finish.

Friday and Saturday saw Carrick showcase his versatility as he made his way to Arizona Speedway for a weekend of winged 360ci racing during the Copper Classic.

Experiencing engine issues on Friday night, Carrick came out strong Saturday night as he was able to pick up a win during heat race action.

On the strength of his heat win, Carrick would grid the field from the sixth startng position for the 30-lap Copper Classic feature event. On a slick surface, Carrick would flex his muscle on the cushion as he chased after the likes of Colby Copeland, DJ Netto, Roger Crockett and Michael Kofoid.

Mixing it up with a plethora of standouts, some rubber going down on the cushion would make passing late in the race a little tricky. Trying some big moves, Carrick would cap his busy week off with a seventh place finish in the feature event.

“I have to thank everyone on both teams for all of their hard work,” Carrick said. “My KKM guys did a great job with a ton of cars there, and my guys on the sprint car worked hard doing a little non winged and winged racing.”

Tanner Carrick and the Keith Kunz Motorsports team would like to thank CVC, TRD, Spike Chassis, Cemex, Arai, and Shell Shock for their support.
