PETERSEN MEDIA- Despite a tough go at the 31st Annual Cotton Classic, Kyle Hirst and the Tarlton Motorsports team are still in the driver seat for a repeat King of the West Championship with just one event remaining on the schedule.

“It was a tough night all around, but we didn’t give up and we are on the verge of something special,” Kyle Hirst said.

Timing the Roth Motorsports/Elite Landscape Construction/Tarlton and Son, Inc. No. 21x machine in 12th fastest, Hirst would then finish third in his heat race after getting called for a jump.

“Overall it was a weird night,” Hirst added. “I thought we laid down a pretty good lap in time trials, and then we got called for a jump starting on the front row of our heat race.”

Moving directly into the Cotton Classic feature event, Hirst would grid the field from the 13th starting position. On a tricky surface, Hirst was able to slowly work his way towards the Top-10, but contact on a lap 17 restart would leave him with a damaged left rear and force him into the work area.

Able to make repairs, Hirst would restart from the tail end of the field. Able to make up some ground on a surface that became tough to pass on, Hirst would earn some valuable points and he fought his way back to finish 13th.

“It wasn’t a great finish, but it was not for lack of effort,” Hirst added. “I have to thank my guys for their hard work, and thank all of our partners for making this all possible.”

Kyle Hirst and the Tarlton Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Motorsports, Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., Executive Auto Sales, Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, Corporate America Investments, and BG Lubricants for their support through the 2016 season.

ON TAP: Tarlton Motorsports and Kyle Hirst return to action on Saturday November 5th for the King of the West Championship finale at the Stockton Dirt Track.

2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-18, Wins-6, Top 5’s-13, Top 10’s-16
