PETERSEN MEDIA- Running with the King of the West Series on Sunday in Bakersfield, CA, Tommy Tarlton would have a tough night that saw him persevere and record a 13th place finish.
“It was a rocky night for us,” Tarlton said. “We went out late in time trials and that really hurt us. My guys did a great job all night and we were able to come back from an early issue and finish 13th.”
Going out late in the time trial session, the Easton, CA driver timed the Elite Landscape Construction/Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino/Tarlton and Son, Inc. No. 21 entry in 14th quickest in time trials.
Just missing the heat race inversion, Tarlton would grid the field from the third row on the night’s first second race. On the slick racing surface that was presented to the drivers early in the program with the early Sunday start, Tarlton would pick up a fifth place finish.
Lining up 14th in the series’ first 30-lap ‘A’ Main of the season, Tarlton would have issues and bring out the caution on the race’s second lap. Taking a quick trip to the work area, Tarlton would be able to rejoin the field as he now found himself back in 22nd.
With track work before the feature making the bottom extremely good, it would prove to be a tough road to gain track position. Forced to work the bottom groove, Tarlton would make some nice moves through traffic as he worked his way toward the Top-10.
Doing a great job of fighting through dense traffic, Tarlton would have a nice comeback as he brought his Tarlton Motorsports machine up with a 13th place finish.
“13th isn’t really where you want to be, but coming from the back like we did on a narrow surface was great,” Tarlton added. “It was also great to see our Tarlton Motorsports teammate, Shane Golobic, grab the win and put our car in victory lane.”
Tarlton Motorsports would like to thank Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., Executive Auto Sales, Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, and BG Lubricants for their support through the 2018 season.
