PETERSEN MEDIA- Climbing back aboard his DF Rios Motorsports No. 00 on Friday night, Jason Statler would work his way forward from the 15th starting position to finish in the ninth spot at the Silver Dollar Speedway.
“It was an okay night, but it wasn’t what we were looking for Statler said. “We got better as the night went on and I think we are getting the balance on this new Maxim car.”
Timing the Amerikote/Riley Collins Auto Body/SCI backed No. 00 in 16th fastest in qualifying time trials, the Grass Valley, CA driver would pick up a fifth place finish during his heat race.
On a track that stayed extremely hooked up and fast all night long, Statler and company watched the track intently as they continue to prepare their machine for the feature event as they were scheduled to start in the eighth row for the 25-lapper.
With the track continuing to stay simply too good on this night, Statler was able to make some early moves from the back of the pack. Hitting his marks on the lightening fast quarter mile, Statler was soon in the Top-10 and battling with Richard Brace, Jr and Jarrett Soares.
Able to clear Brace, Statler would take over the ninth spot very late in the race and then set his sights on Soares who ran a few car lengths ahead of him. Hoping for a bobble in the closing laps, Statler would get to Soares’ back bumper but with everyone being fast on this night he never found an opening to take the spot.
“The good things is that we got the car better every time we hit the track,” Statler said. “When the track is like that it usually isn’t very fun, but fortunately we were able to do some things to pick up some positions.”
Jason Statler would like to thank DF Rios Motorsports, Amerikote, Riley Collins Auto Body, SCI, Kaeding Performance, Kistler Racing Engines, Simpson Race Products, Yak Graphics, Factory Kahne Shocks, Ultra Shield, Rod End Supply, Santomauro, and Stephanie’s Custom Interior for their continued support.
ON TAP: Statler and his team are scheduled to return to the Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night before heading to the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.
