‘The Big Guy’ Seventh With King of the West Series

PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking on the King of the West Series on Saturday night at the Stockton Dirt Track, Jason Statler and his DF Rios Motorsports team ended their night with a seventh place finish.

“We had a pretty good night overall,” Jason Statler said. “We had really good speed, and put ourselves in a position to win a race.”

20 cars checked into the pit area on Saturday night, and the Grass Valley, CA driver timed his DF Rios Motorsports/Amerikote/Riley Collins Auto Body No. 00 machine ninth fastest to get his night started.

From the front row of his heat race, Statler would slip to the second spot when things got underway, before making a late high side move to get around Scott Parker to grab the win and move into the night’s dash.

Starting and finishing fourth in the dash, ‘The Big Guy’ would line his SCI/Kaeding Performance/Kistler Racing Engines entry up in the second row for the 30-lap affair.

Settling into the fourth spot as the race got underway, a tricky Stockton Dirt Track surface saw a majority of the field use the bottom of the speedway, where Statler had his machine planted.

Struggling to make speed off the bottom of the speedway, Statler would slip back to the sixth spot as the laps clicked down. Running sixth as the race came to a close, Statler would try to take advantage of a late restart and get back to the fourth spot, but his machine got tight, and he would slip back to the seventh spot where he would eventually take the checkered flag.

“We weren’t awesome on the bottom, and that hurt us in the long run,” Statler said. “My guys are doing a great job, and we had a car that was good enough to run inside the Top-Five, but it just did not work out how we had hoped.”

Jason Statler would like to thank DF Rios Motorsports, Amerikote, Riley Collins Auto Body, SCI, Kaeding Performance, Kistler Racing Engines, Simpson Race Products, Yak Graphics, Factory Kahne Shocks, Ultra Shield, Rod End Supply, Santomauro, Stephanie’s Custom Interior, and Nevada City Auto Service for their continued support.

ON TAP: Statler will take a weekend off before returning to action June 26th at the Ocean Speedway and June 27th at the Calistoga Speedway.
