‘The Catfish’ Second At Dusty Placerville

PETERSEN MEDIA- Saturday night at the Placerville Speedway, Greg DeCaires once again found himself in a duel with Andy Gregg for the race win, but on this night the Elk Grove, CA driver would come up just short as he would take the checkered flag in the second position.

“We got close to Andy Gregg a few times, but we came up just short and ended up second which is still a very good night,” DeCaires said.

Continuing to prove a very good qualifier in 2015, DeCaires would kick his night off by setting the standard in qualifications aboard the Dale Miller Plumbing and Septic/Foothill 7 TV/RedHawk Casino backed No. 4SA entry.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the reigning track champion would finish in the third spot and solidify his spot in the nightly redraw as the four pill put him in the second row for the 25-lap battle.

High temperatures mixed with the California water situation would make for an extremely slick track, making drivers show their ability to finesse the throttle and work the brake pedal.

After an opening lap caution, DeCaires would jump into the second spot as he chased after Andy Gregg for the first seven laps until the caution flag flew. The ensuing restart would see Gregg get away from DeCaires, but the savvy veteran would patiently reel him back in as they got into lapped traffic, only to see the caution flag fly on the 13th lap.

The next restart would see DeCaires feel pressure from third running Justyn Cox, as the leaders again got into traffic very quick. Continuing to hold the second spot, the pressure from Cox would allow the race leader to scoot away as DeCaires continued to navigate through thick traffic.

In the closing laps, DeCaires would work on getting back to Gregg, but he would be unable to do so, as he closed his ninth race of the season with his ninth Top-Five finish.

“It was a technical track, but we had a really good car,” DeCaires said. “I really have to thank Dale and Bill for all of their hard work, and hopefully we can get to victory lane this weekend for the big July 4th celebration.”

Greg DeCaires and the Dale Miller Motorsports team would like to thank Dale Miller Plumbing and Septic, Foothill 7 TV, RedHawk Casino, Halk Equipment Rentals, NAAKE Suspension, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, Frank’s Auto Body Shop, Hangtown Sheet Metal and Wesmar Racing Engines for their support.

2015 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts- 9, Wins- 4, Top-5’s-9, Top-10’s-9

ON TAP: DeCaires and the Miller Motorsports team will be back at the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night for the annual July 4th showdown.
