PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting back to work on Saturday night removed from a tough weekend in Stockton, CA, Sean Becker had a good night going at Marysville Raceway, however 10thplace finish doesn’t reflect just how good the night was.
“We had a great car, I just tried to make something on the last restart and it didn’t stick,” Sean Becker said. “We were easily a podium car, and I hate that I kind of butchered the night for everyone.”
Piloting the Monhoff Racing No. 88n at the Mel Hall Memorial in Marysville, CA, ‘The Shark’ would time the M&M Structures entry in third fastest in qualifying time trials.
Moving into heat race action, Becker would line up in the second row and simply just need to transfer to earn a spot in the Dash. Doing more than that, Becker would jump into second and chase after Tanner Carrick for the top position. Unable to win, the second place run was still good enough to transfer Becker into both the feature event as well as the Dash.
Finishing third in the Dash, Becker would take the green flag from the second row for what would be his final sprint car start of the 2019 season. Hanging in the Top-three for much of the night, Becker would hound the likes of Justyn Cox and Andy Forsberg as they battled hard in front of him.
With cautions and stoppages marring the final stages of the race, a late restart would see Becker try and take advantage and get a run on the lead duo. Pushing to hard Becker would loop the 88n machine and it would relegate him to a 10thplace finish.
“I just pushed the issue to hard and it spun,” Becker said. “We should have finished on the podium. Thanks to Dan Monhoff for everything he does for my family and I, an everyone that helps on his car.”
