PETERSEN MEDIA- Friday night in Chico, CA, Sean Becker lived up to his ‘Shark’ nickname as he advanced from sixth to park the Menne Motorsports machine in victory lane.
“This Menne Motorsports team works so hard to give me a good car, and it was good for us to get back in victory lane,” Sean Becker said.
Becker kicked the night off by timing the Mike’s Hard Lemonade/Cherry Street Mini Storage/Menne Ranch Hay, Inc. No. 75 machine in sixth fastest during qualifying time trials.
Heat race action would see Becker take advantage of a front row starting position as he would pick up the win and qualify for the night’s redraw.
Finding himself with the six pill, ‘The Shark’ would take the green flag from the third row for the 25-lap feature event.
On a racy surface, Becker would put on a show as he put on a determined effort for sixth. Clawing his way forward, Becker would pounce on the 15th lap as he assumed command of the race.
Fending off challenges from Chase Majdic during the race’s closing laps, Becker would go on to claim a hard earned win.
Saturday night, Becker and Menne Motorsports stopped in at Marysville Raceway as they battled with the Civil War Series.
Showing a ton of speed again, Becker opened the night up by setting the standard in qualifying time trials before second place finishes in both his heat race and the Dash.
Lining up on the front row of the 30-lap feature event, Becker would settle into the second spot as he chased after early leader, Geoff Ensign.
After a torrid battle with Ensign, Becker would take over the lead on the seventh lap and begin to open up his advantage on another great racing surface.
On the 13th lap, things would go south for Becker as he would make a very uncharacteristic mistake and lose the handle to the Menne Motorsports entry in turns three and four and relinquish the lead.
Forced to the back of the pack, Becker would put on quite the charge through the field as he was able to rally and still come away with a fifth place finish.
“Saturday night was going really well, but I just made a mistake,” Becker added. “I feel bad for this team because they gave me a car that was definitely good enough to win the race.”
Becker would like to thank Mike’s Hard Lemonade, Cherry Street Mini Storage, Menne Ranch Hay Inc., Astro Titanium, Ponybracket.com, Hunt’s Race World, Molecule, Shaver Racing Engines, FK Rod Ends, K&N, Pioneer Auto Body, and The Joie of Seating for their support in 2017.
