PETERSEN MEDIA- Sean Becker put a frustrating performance at the Ocean Speedway on Friday night behind him, as he stormed to a third place finish at the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.
“Friday night felt like déjà vu from our trip to the Petaluma Speedway in June,” Becker said. “We were fast early, and then I struggled to get comfortable on the track and spun out.”
Climbing aboard the Friends and Family Racing No. x1 machine for the Civil War event at the Ocean Speedway, Sean Becker would spin just past the race’s halfway point while running inside the Top-10, resulting in a 12th place finish.
30 cars checked into the pit area, and Becker opened his night up by timing in fourth fastest during qualifying time trials. Finding himself on the front row of his heat race after another competitor was penalized, Becker took full advantage of his good luck, and stormed to the heat race win.
Running second in the dash, Becker would line up on the front row of the feature event. When the race came to life, Becker would lose a couple of spots early, as he looked to find a strong line on a rough and tumble Ocean Speedway.
Maintaining inside the Top-10, Becker would lose the handle on the 17th lap, and bring out the caution flag. Restarting the race, Becker would do what he could during the final 13 laps, as he finished in the 12th spot.
“We have a very good thing going at F&F Racing, so hopefully I can get this team the results it deserves the next time we race,” Becker added.
Getting a phone call from Dan Monhoff earlier in the week, Becker agreed to make the trip to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night to help the No. 35 team figure out a couple of issues.
Struggling in hot laps and time trials, Becker would line up in the sixth row for the 25-lap feature event. After working hard all night long, the Monhoff Racing No. 35 machine came to life in the feature event.
Slicing and dicing his way around the Placerville Speedway, Becker was able to move into the third spot as he challenged the lead duo of Andy Gregg and Greg Decaires.
Able to keep pace with them, Becker simply ran out of time and was unable to make it a three car battle for the win.
“It was the polar opposite night on Saturday,” Becker added. “We struggled early in the night at Placerville, but Dan Monhoff and his guys worked hard, and we had a great run in the feature event. I have to thank him for thinking of me, and hope to do it again with him and his team.”
Becker would like to thank Mike’s Hard Lemonade, Cherry Street Mini Storage, Menne Ranch Hay Inc., Astro Titanium, Ponybracket.com, Hunt’s Race World, Molecule, Shaver Racing Engines, FK Rod Ends, and K&N for their support in 2015.
2015 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts- 27, Wins- 2, Top 5’s- 18, Top 10’s- 21
ON TAP: Becker will return to the seat of Menne Motorsports No. 75 machine of Friday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway before climbing aboard his QRC/Grandpa George No. 23 kart on Saturday night at the Cylceland Speedway.
