PETERSEN MEDIA- Building off of a third-place finish one week ago in Petaluma, CA, Sean Becker and the Van Lare Motorsports team were even better on Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway as ‘The Shark’ ran second at the Silver Cup.
“Friday night was a great night,” Sean Becker said. “I am very grateful we were able to get the race in under the circumstances.”
Committing to run the full slate at Silver Dollar Speedway in 2020 with Van Lare Motorsports, Friday night was the team’s first test at the track that Becker has had so much success at over the course of his storied career.
Timing the Pro Aggregate/All About Fire Protection/Bianchi Farms No. 5v in 15th fastest amongst the 33 cars in the pit area, the Roseville, CA driver found himself on the front row of his heat race.
On a fast racing surface, Becker would capitalize on the prime starting position as he went on to leave the field in his wake and cruise to the win.
By way of his heat race win, Becker would earn a spot in the nightly redraw where the four pill would line him up in the second row of the 40-lap feature event. With plenty of speed still in the track, Becker was able to make some moves in the race’s early goings.
Chasing after early leader, Justyn Cox, Becker would get by Colby Copeland and John-Michael Bunch as he jumped into second. Racing in heavy traffic, the track’s speed would make it tough to fight through traffic, but Becker was still able to keep pace and keep Cox in his crosshairs.
A late restart gave the leaders clear track, but on this night, Cox would prove to be better in open track as Becker capped Friday night off with a second-place finish.
