The Shark Shines at Petaluma Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Sean Becker put together quite the weekend in Northern California as he ran third with Van Lare Motorsports on Friday night at Ocean Speedway and picked up a win on Sunday night at Petaluma Speedway with Monhoff Racing.

“I am extremely grateful that Petaluma got to hold a sprint car race again,” Sean Becker said. “Monhoff and I have become a lethal combination at that track, so confidence is always high when we go there. I have to thank my kids for the awesome draw. Getting our first win of the year, having it be on Father’s Day, and being able to share it with whole family made it a very special night.”

Timing the M&M Structures/LRB backed No. 88n machine second fastest in qualifying time trials, Becker would flex his muscle in heat race competition.

Racing his way to the heat race win, Becker would earn a spot in the redraw and the four-pill placed him in the second row to start the 25-lap feature event.

On the hooked-up Petaluma Speedway surface, Becker would jump into second position on the race’s second lap where he began his pursuit of Shane Hopkins.

A lap-10 restart would be just what he needed as he powered his way into the race lead and never looked back. Leading the final 14-laps, Becker would power his way to his first win of the season.

Friday night ‘The Shark’ and Van Lare Motorsports took part in Ocean Speedway’s opening event of the 2020 season and continued their strong campaign together.

With 33 cars checking into the scenic ¼ mile bullring for action, Becker timed the Pro Aggregate/All About Fire Protection/Bianchi Farms backed entry in 10th fastest in time trials.

Racing his way to a heat race win, Becker would make his way into the Dash where his fifth place finish placed him in the third row for the 30-lap feature event.

On the slick surface, Becker would be on the prowl as the slick surface would soon take rubber. Running in fourth, the rubber would start to go down on the speedway and it would make passing extremely tough.

Able to steal the final spot on the podium with just two laps to go in the feature, he would hang on to the position as he picked up another podium finish with Van Lare Motorsports.

“I don’t usually get to make it out to Watsonville to often, but I am always excited when I do,” Becker said. “We got faster every time we hit the track. Unfortunately, as we were moving forward in the “A” rubber began to lay down and we were only able to salvage a decent finish.”

Becker and Van Lare Motorsports would like to thank Pro Aggregate, All About Fire Protection, Bianchi Farms, Shark Racing Engines, CCI, Van Lare Steering Repair, and Triple X Race Co. for their support in 2020.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-9, Wins-1, Top 5’s- 6, Top-10’s- 7

ON TAP: Becker may possibly make a return trip to Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA on Thursday night with Van Lare Motorsports before returning to the seat of the Monhoff Racing entry Friday and Saturday at Placerville Speedway.
