The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series Takes To The Ocean Speedway Friday Night

(PETERSEN MEDIA- Aptos, CA)- Friday night at the Ocean Speedway, ‘The Greatest Show On Dirt’, the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series is set to make their return to the racy ¼ mile on the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds for the first time since 2008.

Amidst an extended tour in the Golden State, the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series comes into the Ocean Speedway fresh off of an off weekend with their last event being on Wednesday night at the Placerville Speedway.

Their most recent event saw a pair of local California drivers, Kyle Hirst and Andy Forsberg give the series regulars all they could handle, but in the end it was Eunice, LA driver, Jason Johnson going to victory lane at the track that forced him to the side lines for much of the 2015 season.

Though Johnson is the series’ most recent winner, and will again be one to watch on another short track, it is California product Brad Sweet continuing to lead the series point standings as he continues to be a model of consistency.

As Sweet looks to extend his point lead and pick up his fourth win of the season Friday night, he will have to fend off the likes of his WoO counterparts,  Shane Stewart, Daryn Pittman, Donny Schat, Joey Saldana, David Gravel, the aforementioned Jason Johnson, Jason Sides, Logan Schuchart, Paul McMahan, Terry McCarl, Greg Wilson, Kerry Madsen, and Jacob Allen.

With the stars and cars of the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series coming in full force, a stout field of California drivers will be on hand looking to score their first win of the Western Swing. Some drivers expected to be on hand include, Bud Kaeding, DJ Netto, Jonathan Allard, Willie Croft, Shane Golobic, Justin Sanders, and many more of the best California has to offer.

The April 1st event at the Ocean Speedway marks the first time the series has visited the ¼ mile bullring located on the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds. Back in 2008, it was “The King of the Outlaws”, Steve Kinser, outduelling fellow Hall of Fame driver, Jac Haudenchild, to grab the win in what was a very memorable race at the Ocean Speedway. Other drivers to win with the World of Outlaws at the Ocean Speedway include Brad Furr in 2002, Andy Hillenburg in 2001, and Joey Saldana in 2000.
