PETERSEN MEDIA- Mason Moore has been a model of consistency at the Placerville Speedway in 2016, and that stayed true on Saturday night as the Princeton, CA driver picked up a third place finish and extended his season long points lead in the process.
“Saturday night was another great night for the F&F Racing team at Placerville Speedway,” Mason Moore said. “We led some laps early, but ended up running third and extending our point lead with our performance.”
Timing the Econo Lube and Tune/Geico Local Office/LRB Race Products No. x1 in eight fastest, Moore would pick up a second place finish in his heat race and make himself eligible for the Top-Eight redraw.
Pulling the four pill, Moore would take the initial green flag from the second row, but with the original front row starter jumping, Moore would find himself starting in the second spot.
Battling with Jake Morgan on the opening lap, Moore would win the battle and lead the opening stages of the feature event. Feeling pressure from Andy Forsberg on the fifth lap, Moore would fend him off for the time being before falling to second on the next circuit.
Keeping Forsberg in his sights, Moore would soon feel pressure from Sean Becker who was beautifully working the high, scary side of the speedway. Still running second, a late restart would stack the leaders on top of each other and Moore would see Becker overtake him for the top spot.
Giving a late effort to reclaim the position, Moore would hold on to capture his third consecutive podium finish at the high-banked ¼ mile facility.
“To run up front like that you would hope to win, but to run third to Andy Forsberg and Sean Becker is nothing to be ashamed about,” Moore said. “I want to thank my guys and our partners for continuing their hard work to keep us strong nightly. Next week is a big week of racing and hopefully both teams can run well.”
Moore would like to thank Coors Light, Econo Lube and Tune, Geico Local Office, LRB Race Products, NAAKE Suspension, K&N, Selover Paint and Body, Lucas Oil, ITC Service Group, Saureel, and Moore Insurance Services for their support.
ON TAP: Moore will compete at the Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night during the Tyler Wolf Memorial aboard his Mason Moore Racing entry before traveling to the Ocean Speedway on Saturday night for the Johnny Key Classic with the Civil War Series.
