Third Place Finish Gives Cody Lamar 5 Point Lead Heading into Marysville Raceway Season Finale

PETERSEN MEDIA- A hotly contested championship battle will come down to the final race at the Marysville Raceway on Saturday night, and Cody Lamar will head into the night with a five point advantage after pocketing a third place finish last week.

“It was a pretty eventful feature event, but fortunately we were not a part of some of the chaos,” Cody Lamar said. “The feature dragged on and we got close to running out of fuel, but fortunately we hung on to finish third.”

Picking up yet another quick time award at the Marysville Raceway, the Rio Linda, CA driver would pocket a second place finish during his heat race. Moving into the redraw, Lamar would pull the three pill and grid the field from the second row for the penultimate feature event of the season.

When the action came to life after a couple of early stoppages, Lamar would find himself in a torrid battle with Justin Sanders and Colby Wiesz. Running in the third spot much of the race, traffic would get dicey at times, and Lamar would find himself as high as the second spot, though an untimely caution would negate his progress.

With cautions plaguing much of the feature event, cars would begin running out of fuel in the latter stages of the race. Getting nervous himself, Lamar would not have any trouble as his third place finish would erase a six point deficit he faced coming into the night, and give him a five point advantage going into this Saturday’s season finale.

“It was nice to be on the other end of the luck spectrum,” Lamar said. “It has been a crazy season, and hopefully we can finish this thing off on Saturday night.”

Cody and his team would like to thank A1 Septic, Joe Hunt Magnetos, and NAAKE Suspension for their continued support.
