(PETERSEN MEDIA)- Getting back to action in Tulare, CA with the Western States RaceSaver’s, Marcus Thomas and Jacob Pacheco would pilot potent GWR entries and record fourth and 17th place finishes.

Texas native Marcus Thomas would get things going by timing the Speedway Motors/CS9 No. 95 machine in third quickest in time trials.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the 2017 IMCA 305 Champion would have his elbows up as he made quick work of the field and raced his way to the win which put him in the third row for the feature event.

When the ‘A’ came to life, Thomas would slip back a few positions in the early goings as he still ran solidly inside the Top-10. Able to settle in the race on the high banked 1/3 mile oval, Thomas would work his way forward and take the checkered flag with a fourth place finish.

“We just missed the set up a little bit and it was my fault,” Marcus Thomas explained. “As a team we have made leaps and bounds in improvements and with Tim Williams giving me the best car possible we will continue to get better. I have to thank Tim and his guys for all their hard work and all of their effort. I also have to thank Gray for everything. He has been a great team member and I wish him well in his new adventures.”

Climbing aboard the Speedway Motors/CS9 Chassis/System 1 backed No. 12 machine on Saturday night, Jacob Pacheco would time in 18th quickest in qualifying time trials before finishing sixth in heat race action.

With Midget and USAC/CRA Sprint Cars also in action on this night, Pacheco and the GWR team would continue to watch the ever-changing track conditions and make adjustments as the track continue to slick off as the night went on.

Gridding the field from the 18th starting position, Pacheco would get off to a nice start as he moved up inside the Top-15 and found himself racing in a tight pack of cars as he figured out the Thunderbowl Raceway.

Losing the handle on lap five, Pacheco would restart from the tail end of the field and was able to work his way forward to finish 17th on Saturday night.

“I really am starting to feel more comfortable each time we hit the track, and that is a great feeling,” Pacheco said. “I have to thank the GWR Crew for their hard work, my good friend Jimmy Christian for his help, and my wife and kids for supporting me as I live out my dream of racing sprint cars.”

GWR would like to thank Speedway Motors, CS9, System1, F&J Schott Trucking, Hoosier, Simpson, ButlerBuilt, Capitol Renegade, David Williams Welding, Petersen Media, Fagundes Auto Body, Blanchard Dozing, and Willwood Brakes for their support.

2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-4, Wins-0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-2

ON TAP: Jacob Pacheco will return to action in the GWR 12 entry on Saturday night in Santa Maria, CA.
