Thursday Night Feature Event Win Propels Cole Macedo to NARC Speedweek Championship

PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking part in a five-race Road to Dirt Cup Speedweek through Oregon and Washington, Cole Macedo and Tarlton Motorsports were on their game as a feature event win paired with four total Top-5’s led to the week long championship.

“We have such a fast racecar right now, and I am super proud of what we accomplished this week,” Cole Macedo said. “With the work load and lack of sleep, Speedweeks can rip a team apart, but my guys stayed positive all week long and we had a ton of fun.”

Meeting the team at Southern Oregon Speedway in Medford, OR on Wednesday night, the big week kicked off. With the feature ultimately getting called short due to an on track accident, Macedo was credited with a 10th place finish as the scene shifted to Douglas County Speedway in Roseburg, OR on Thursday night.

Extremely strong from start to finish on Thursday night, Macedo was second fast in time trials, won his heat from the second row and ran third in the Dash.

Taking the feature event green flag from the second row, Macedo was able to take the race lead on the third lap and he never looked back. Banging the boards all around the speedway, Macedo flexed his muscle as he raced to his third win of the season with Tarlton Motorsports, which is also his third NARC win of the season as he chases the season long championship.

Continuing to travel north in I-5, Friday night the scene shifted to Cottage Grove Speedway in Cottage Grove, OR. After timing in ninth fastest in time trials, Macedo won his heat, won the Dash, and got the early lead in the feature event.

Working the bullring to perfection, traffic did loom and brought some excitement to the battle up front. Losing the top spot to Justyn Cox, Macedo tried to race back into the lead but settled for a second-place finish on this night.

Round four of action marked the final night of action in Oregon as Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, OR hosted the series.

A very fast racing surface was on display on this night, and Macedo continued to flex his muscle. Timing in third fastest and running fifth in his heat, the Lemoore, CA driver ran fifth in the Dash before he went on to tally a fourth-place finish in the 30-lap feature event.

The week culminated with a stop in Elma, WA as Gray’s Harbor Raceway hosted the fifth and final installment of the Fastest Five Days in Motorsports.

Dubbed as the Timber Cup, Macedo got the night underway as he timed in second fastest in qualifying time trials, before a third-place finish in his heat race.

Finishing sixth in the Dash, Macedo lined up in the third row of a feature event that nearly went nonstop. Working into fifth, Macedo held the spot at the finish and his body of work was good enough to net him the Speedweek Championship.

“We were solid each and every night, and that really is a testament to Drew Warner and all of the guys,” Macedo added. “Big thanks to the Tarlton family as well as the Dyson family and all of our partners for providing us with great equipment and allowing us to make these road trips.”
