Thursday Night Win Highlights Tarlton Motorsports’ Trophy Cup

PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking part in the 23rd Annual Trophy Cup with two former Trophy Cup Champions, a Thursday night win by Jason Meyers would highlight the weekend for Tarlton Motorsports.

With Jason Meyers and Jonathan Allard again at the helm of potent Tarlton Motorsports entries, both drivers would run well all weekend long.

Thursday night, Clovis, CA driver Jason Meyers would time in 11th fastest in his group while Chico, CA pilot Jonathan Allard would time in fourth quickest in his group.

As Meyers picked up a third place finish in his heat race he would be forced into the ‘B’ main, while Allard’s second place finish locked him directly into the 30-lap feature event.

Getting through the B Main with no issues, Meyers would grid the field from the 16th starting spot while Allard lined up in the seventh position.

On an extremely racy Thunderbowl Raceway, both Tarlton Motorsports cars were dialed in as they both worked their way forward. By the 11th lap JA ran in the fifth spot and

Meyers was right behind him in the seventh position.

A restart would see Meyers make a big move as he was able to work his way past Allard and get up into the fourth spot as he began battling with Kyle Hirst, and Tim Kaeding.

A restart with just four laps to go would see Meyers take advantage of the lead duo battling as he drove by to take the race lead, and eventually the win, while Allard was able to work his way up to finish fourth at the stripe.

Looking for another strong night as a team, Allard would time in fifth on Friday night in his flight while Meyers was eighth fastest in his group. Meyers would pick up the win during his heat race and move into the feature event, while a fifth place effort by Allard would place him in the third row of the semi.

Showing he had a very strong entry in the semi, Allard would work up to the second spot, where he would finish, and punch his ticket into the feature event.

Scheduled to line up 16th, Allard would have an engine go sour during the warm up lap, and his night would come to an end.

With Meyers still in action, he would line up in the fourth row on a surface that was now extremely hooked up after pre-race track work. With the field using the bottom of the speedway during the feature, passing would be at a premium and Meyers would run in sixth for much of the race. A couple of late cautions would allow him to pick off a position, as he would end his night with a fifth place finish.

With both preliminary nights in the books, both cars sat in the Top-10 in Trophy Cup points with Allard sitting fourth and Meyers sitting ninth.

In the always exciting Saturday night heat races, Meyers would finish in the sixth spot while Allard would finish in third as all drivers simply looked to add to their overall point totals for their feature event starting positions.

With Allard still sitting fourth, Meyers now sit in the eighth spot putting them in the seventh and ninth rows for the 50-lap feature event.

Allard would get off to a nice start but contact with the turn one wall on the seventh lap would result in him getting upside down and bringing his Trophy Cup to an early end.

With Meyers still on the speedway, he would still be in the 17th spot as the inverted feature event made it tough to get moving forward. With the race leader setting an extremely torrid pace, Meyers would be the last driver to lose his lap just before the caution flew on the 35th lap.

Showing he had an extremely fast car, Meyers would restart behind the leader get his lap back and proceed to catch the tail end of the field by the time the checkered flag flew on the 50th lap.

Finishing in the 15th spot, Meyers would end up 14th in points while Allard ended up 16th.
