Tim Kaeding and Lunstra Motorsports Second at Huset’s Speedway Heading Into Massive Race Week

PETERSEN MEDIA- Having problems on Friday and Saturday at Knoxville Raceway, Tim Kaeding and Lunstra Motorsports put those issues behind them as they checked into Huset’s Speedway on Sunday night and scored a 2nd place finish during the final race at the track before this week’s Huset’s Hustle and the High Bank Nationals.

“This week is one that I want to win really bad for Dave Lunstra and this team,” Tim Kaeding said. “Last year we set out to prep for this race and things didn’t quite go as we had hoped, and this year I feel like we are even better heading to the Hustle and High Bank Nationals, so I am looking forward to getting to work on Wednesday night.”

Sunday night, Kaeding and company got off to a good start as the San Jose, CA driver timed the Acres Away Ag/Dakota Alignment and Frame Service/First National Bank backed No. 3 in fifth quickest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Kaeding was able to pick up a vital position as his second-place run moved him into the feature event where he lined up on the outside of the third row for the 25-lap affair.

When the Sunday night feature came to life, TK mashed the throttle as he got to the high-side of the speedway and began making his way to the front.

Jumping into fourth in the early laps, Kaeding was into third by the fifth lap and worked into second at the race’s halfway point as he chased after race leader, Ryan Timms.

With the track right on the fence, Kaeding bounced off the Huset’s Speedway wall a few times and broke momentum he had built up each time. Still, able to keep his mount in second, Kaeding gave it his all to score his third win for Lunstra Motorsports.

The final three laps saw Kaeding erase nearly a one second gap, but he didn’t quite have enough as he capped the weekend off with a second place finish.

“I just made a couple of crucial mistake on the cushion that I can’t afford to make this week,” Kaeding added. “We have a great baseline at Huset’s like I said, and I am hoping we can win one of these massive pay days this weekend.”

The Lunstra Motorsports team would like to thank Acres Away Ag, Dakota Alignment and Frame Service, First National Bank, Dammer Trucking, Beep Motorsports, Clark’s Custom Coatings, Ahrendt Designs, Valley Springs Body Shop, and Walker Performance Filtration
