PETERSEN MEDIA- Waiting out an extended weather delay Saturday night in Grand Forks, ND ultimately led to Tim Kaeding getting upside down as the race went back to green. Kaeding and company will now look to bounce back against the World of Outlaws tonight at Granite City Speedway in Sauk Rapids, MN.
“It was a pretty frustrating night on Friday,” Tim Kaeding said. “We got the feature underway then rains came during a red flag five laps in. We waited to the delay out, but the track was still a little greasy and were caught up in a pretty bad wreck.”
Timing the Folkens Bros. Trucking/East River Homes/Dammer Trucking No. 3 entry in 15th fastest in his qualifying flight, the San Jose, CA native would finish seventh in his heat race and be forced into the Last Chance Showdown.
With his work cut out for himself and the Lunstra Motorsports team, Kaeding would grid the field from the ninth starting spot with only the top four finishers moving on to the 40-lap feature event.
On the high-banked bullring, TK did what he does best as he got the best of his competition and moved into the fourth and final transfer spot. Punching his ticket into the feature event, Kaeding would grid the field from the 24th starting position.
Following nearly a three-hour delay, Kaeding’s feature would come to an abrupt halt as officials brought the race back to life. With some areas of grease still on the speedway, cars would get out of shape in front of Kaeding, and it would result in the Lunstra Motorsports machine getting upside down wildly in front of the crowd.
“It was a pretty bad deal,” Kaeding said. “Luckily nobody got hurt in the ordeal, and we are able to race another day.”
The Lunstra Motorsports team would like to thank Folkens Bros. Trucking, Dammer Trucking, Mihm Trucking, Yager Agriculture Supply, Matt’s Repair, East River Homes, and Trac2Trail Arctic Cat for their support in 2017.
ON TAP: Tim and Lunstra Motorsports will again battle with the World of Outlaws Tonight in Sauk City, MN, before invading Jackson Motorplex on Friday night and Beaver Dam Raceway on Saturday.
