Tim Kaeding on Huset’s Podium During Opening Weekend with Lunstra Motorsports

PETERSEN MEDIA- The goal early on for Tim Kaeding and Lunstra Motorsports is to be as dialed in as possible at Huset’s Speedway for the upcoming High Bank Nationals. Getting their season kicked off over this past weekend, Kaeding showcased a lot of speed as the three race stint was highlighted by a third place finish on Sunday night.

“This past weekend I felt really strong in the Lunstra Motorsports car,” Tim Kaeding said. “We were extremely fast all three nights, and if it wasn’t for a little bad luck on Saturday and Monday, I think we had three good finishes. We still have some work to do, but it was a great start.”

Taking on the NOSA series on Saturday night at I-90 Speedway, Kaeding got off to a strong start on the slick surface as he timed in second fastest aboard the Acres Away Ag/First National Bank/Dammer Trucking backed No. 3 entry.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, TK worked his way forward and tallied a second-place finish which put him in the redraw for the feature event line up. Pulling the eight, Kaeding took the green flag from the fourth row for the 20-lap finale.

TK was shot out of a cannon as the feature came to life as he jumped into third on the race’s second circuit. With rubber down on the speedway, TK was mindful as he chased after the race leaders, but under caution on the ninth lap bad luck would take its first bite out of TK and the Lunstra Motorsports team.

Under yellow, a radius rod bolt baked itself out of Kaeding’s front end, and it unfortunately brought Kaeding’s night to an early end.

With some confidence behind him, Kaeding made his first crack at Huset’s Speedway on the first night of the annual Memorial Day Weekend doubleheader. Timing in eighth fastest in his qualifying flight, Kaeding lined up on the pole of his heat race.

Setting sail from the front row starting position, Kaeding picked up the win and lined up in the fourth row of the feature event for the second consecutive night.

On another surface that was extremely slick and on the verge of taking rubber, Kaeding was patient as he worked his way forward through the Top-10.

Running in seventh for the first half of the race, Kaeding cracked the Top-5 on lap 18.

Having some good fortune late in the race, Kaeding picked up tow more positions as he got into third with two-to-go and picked up a podium finish during the team’s first start of the racy bullring.

Looking for even better results on Monday night, Kaeding didn’t lay down the qualifying lap he had hoped for as his 11thquick effort in his group lined him up sixth in his heat race.

With his elbows up, TK carved his way to a third place finish to transfer into the feature event where he ultimately took the green flag from the 16th starting position.

Passing two cars on the race’s initial lap, Kaeding had a strong run going on lap two as he passed two more cars through turns one and two. Heading into three and four with a full head of steam, Kaeding caught a rut wrong and sent his mount flipping and it brought an end to his night.

“In the big picture I think it was a good start to our season,” Kaeding explained. “Nobody ever wants to have DNF’s or tear up parts, but we had speed, the car felt good, and we were strong at the track we want to be strong at over the course of the next month.”

The Lunstra Motorsports team would like to thank Acres Away Ag, First National Bank, Dammer Trucking, Beep Motorsports, Clark’s Custom Coatings, Ahrendt Designs, Valley Springs Body Shop, and Walker Performance Filtration
