Tim Kaeding With Second and Fourth Place Finishes During Final High Bank Nationals Tune Up

PETERSEN MEDIA- Tim Kaeding and the Lunstra Motorsports team had another strong showing in the Midwest as Kaeding picked up a fourth-place finish on Friday night at the Jackson Motorplex and a second place finish at Huset’s Speedway on Sunday night in what was his final tune up before the bright lights shine this week during the High Bank Nationals.

“We had a lot of speed when we finally kicked our season off a couple of weeks ago, and it was great to carry that over with a new car this past weekend,” Tim Kaeding said. “We had a shot to win both races, and that has us feeling good heading into the big show this week.”

Taking part in the Border Battle opener in Jackson, MN on Friday night, TK got the night started by timing the Acres Away Ag/First National Bank/Dammer Trucking backed No. 3 car in third fastest in his qualifying group.

Lining up fourth in his heat race, the San Jose, CA driver worked his way forward to a second-place finish and transferred directly into the 25-lap feature event. Taking the green flag from the second row, Kaeding settled into third for the first seven laps before slipping back to fourth.

Making a big move at the race’s halfway point, Kaeding jumped into second and began to chase after race leader, Mark Dobmeier. Reeling in the leader amid heavy traffic, Kaeding was forced to check up while dealing with a slower car on the 20th lap and he lost two positions and slipped back to fourth where he went on to finish.

Sunday night, Kaeding and company checked in at Huset’s Speedway for the third night of Border Battle action, and Kaeding opened the event up by timing in seventh fastest in time trials.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, TK went on to pick up the win and then drew the one to put himself on the pole of the feature event.

With the top getting the jump, Kaeding settle into second as he chased after the race leader, Ayrton Gennetten. The slick surface soon started to take rubber, and once that happened TK settled in line and opted not to try and force any issues.

Keeping his tires underneath him for the duration of the 25-lapper, Kaeding closed the weekend out with a second-place finish.

“After we tore our car up over Memorial Day Weekend, it was great to have another good weekend in a new car,” Kaeding said. “Sunday night once the rubber went down, I opted to settle in and not try to force anything with this being a short week. I am happy with how everything feels and am looking forward to a big week ahead.”

The Lunstra Motorsports team would like to thank Acres Away Ag, First National Bank, Dammer Trucking, Beep Motorsports, Clark’s Custom Coatings, Ahrendt Designs, Valley Springs Body Shop, and Walker Performance Filtration
