Tiner and C&M Motorsports 13th at Placerville Speedway Points Opener

PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking another shot at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, Steven Tiner returned to the seat of the C&M Motorsports entry and took part in the track’s regular season points opener where he would finish 13th for the second week in a row.

“We were in a good position in our heat race to earn a spot in the redraw, but I didn’t get the job done and that put us in the back of the feature,” Steven Tiner said. “The race only had one caution, and the track was really good and that made passing pretty tough.”

31 cars were in action on Saturday night at the famed ¼ mile bullring, and Tiner got the night started off by timing the Legacy Specialties Inc./Lund Construction/Anrak backed No. 7c entry in 16th fastest in time trials, putting him on the pole of the first heat.

Getting stuck in the grease on the bottom grove when the heat race came to life, TIner would slip back to second as he chased after Shane Hopkins. Firmly hanging on to a second-place finish, Tiner would make the transfer into the feature event, though he would line up back in 15th based on his qualifying time.

With the track still fast for the feature event after rain drenched the area earlier in the week, two grooves were presented to the field but both grooves proved to be very equal.

Running in the middle of the pack for the duration of the race, just one stoppage would create one restart to try and pick up positions as passing was at a premium all through the field.

Taking what he could, Tiner would pick up a couple of positions as he closed the night out with a 13th place finish.

“The track didn’t quite get as slick as it normally does, and coming for the the middle of the field, I really wasn’t able to move around much,” Tiner said. “It’s been fun getting back to racing, but the competitor in me wants to continue to see us get better and improve on these finishes for the C&M Motorsports team.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Legacy Specialties Inc., Lund Construction, Anrak, Alturas Tires, Swartz Diesel, PT Shocks, Creason Enterprises, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.
