PETERSEN MEDIA: Wrapping up an unofficial California Speedweek last week, Steven Tiner got one final night of preparation for Speedweek Northwest in on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway.
“We had good speed again on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, but we ran into a little bit of bad luck with a couple laps to go and we ended up finishing 10th.”
Timing the Larry Davis Farms/Wright Process Systems/Deli Delicious backed No. 94 in eighth fastest, Tiner would pick up a third place finish during his heat race.
Moving into the 25-lap feature event, Tiner would grid the field from the 10th starting position on a heavy and rough surface on the famed ¼ mile.
When the race came to life, Tiner would do a bit of moving and shaking as he slowly worked his way forward on the tricky surface.
Getting up into the fifth spot late in the race, Tiner would lose the handle with just two-laps left in the race. Giving up valuable track position, Tiner would end up finishing in the 10th position.
A busy month for the Visalia, CA driver now gets a bit of scenery change as he will focus on Speedweek Northwest that kicks off tonight in Yreka, CA. Tiner will follow the tour all week long before returning to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.
“I am really looking forward to a week of racing up in Oregon,” Tiner said. “We have a good car right now, and I am hoping we are able to get up there and grab a couple of wins.”
