Tiner Sixth at Cotton Classic Opener

PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to action for the first time since early September, Steven Tiner would pick up a sixth place finish during the opening night of the Cotton Classic on Friday night at Keller Auto Speedway.

“We shook off some cobwebs before Trophy Cup, and hopefully got our car a little better for our biggest week of the year,” Steven Tiner said.

Timing his Steven Tiner Racing/Larry Davis Farms/Wright Process Systems backed No. 94 machine in third fastest in qualifying time trials, Tiner would start and finish fourth in his heat race.

By way of his qualifying time, the Visalia, CA driver would move into the night’s Dash where the vaunted eight pill would place him in the fourth row for the six-lap event. Able to move forward, Tiner would improve his starting position in the feature event a row by way of a sixth place finish.

Getting off to a sluggish start when the green flag dropped, Tiner would find himself back in the 10th spot. Once settled in, Tiner would begin to pick up those lost positions as he battled with Dominic and Gio Scelzi, Michael Kofoid and Cory Eliason.

Able to pick up all those lost positions, Tiner would take the checkered flag at the Cotton Classic with a sixth place finish.

“Aside from a couple of minor issues I was happy with how the car felt by the end of the night, and am really looking forward to this week,” Tiner said. “Trophy Cup is a race I always look forward too, and hopefully we can run well all three nights.”

Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, Deli Delicious, Fisher Racing Engines, Harvest Supply, Powder Coat-It, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, XYZ Machine, DMI, Dan Olson Race Products, HRP, Sander Engineering, Sweet Manufacturing, Schoenfeld, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.

2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-28, Wins-3, Top 5’s-12, Top 10’s-19

ON TAP: Tiner returns to action this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night during the 23rd Annual Trophy Cup that will take place at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA.
