PETERSEN MEDIA: With some bad luck in California and a couple of off weeks behind him, Steven Tiner headed north for Speedweek Northwest, and turned in a very memorable performance during the six race span.

“We really had some awesome runs up north, and it felt good to be back up front after having some bad luck lately,” Steven Tiner noted.

Kicking things off on June 28th at the Siskiyou Motor Speedway in Yreka, CA, Tiner would kick his Speedweek off by timing his Larry Davis Farms/Wright Process Systems/Deli Delicious No. 94 machine in seventh fastest in time trials.

Finishing third in his heat race, Tiner would then win the Dash and line up on the pole for the feature event. Getting off to a great start, Tiner would be in control during the first quarter of the race until a shock would fail on him. Hanging on as best as he could Tiner would slip back to the third spot, where he would finish.

Last Monday night saw Tiner and his STR team take to the Southern Oregon Speedway in Medford, OR and after a dismal 14th quick effort in time trials, Tiner would finish fourth in his heat race and line up in the seventh row for the feature event.

Tiner simply came alive during the feature event. With only one yellow flag during the duration of the A, the Visalia, CA driver was able to find grip on an extremely slick surface as he charged his way to a fifth place finish.

Tuesday night the scene shifted to the coast as Coos Bay Speedway was next on the docket. Timing in seventh fastest after going out late during time trials, a third place effort during his heat race would again put Tiner in the Dash.

For the second time in three races, the Dash win would see Tiner lead the field to green. Getting off to another strong start, Tiner would lead the first half of the race as he fought threw thick lapped traffic. Admittedly making a mistake in traffic, Tiner would give up the lead and fall back to finish in the fourth spot.

“We had a car to win in Coos Bay, but I just made some bad decisions in traffic,” Tiner added.

Taking a night off to head to the Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, OR, Tiner would time in quick time in his time trial flight before finishing fourth in his heat race.

Lining up fourth in the feature by way of his Dash finish, Tiner would pick up another Top-Five finish on his trip as he posted a fourth place finish for the second consecutive race.

Friday night at the Cottage Grove Speedway, Tiner would line up in the 10th spot for the eventual non-stop feature event. With most of the field using the bottom of the speedway, Tiner would pick up positions as he could as he ultimately found himself in the seventh spot when the race came to a close.

The Speedweek finale might have been Tiner’s best showing of the week. After timing in ninth fastest, Tiner would pick up the heat race win from his second row starting position and move into the Dash.

After finishing fourth in the Dash, Tiner lined up in the second row of the feature event, and quickly worked into the second spot. Chasing after the race leader, Tiner did not make it easy for the driver out front as he attempted numerous slide jobs as he looked for the top spot.

Relentless in his pursuit, Tiner would come up short as he ended his week with a second place finish.

“It was a great trip for this team,” Tiner added. “We got back to running well, and we really got our car comfortable. I have to thank everyone who makes this trip possible for me year after year, and I can’t wait to get back up to Oregon next year.”

Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, Elma Lanes, Deli Delicious, Fisher Racing Engines, Harvest Supply, Powder Coat-It, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, XYZ Machine, DMI, Dan Olson Race Products, HRP, Sander Engineering, Sweet Manufacturing, Schoenfeld, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.

2015 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-17, Wins-2, Top 5’s-11, Top 10’s-14
