TK Cashes In At Rapid Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Tim Kaeding is continuing to stay hot as the Summer rolls on. Tuesday night, Kaeding picked up his seventh win of the season as he won a thriller at the Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, IA.

“It was a great week for our race team,” Kaeding said. “We won a race that turned out to pay really well, and had some speed in Minnesota and at Badlands.”

Tuesday night, Kaeding checked in at the Rapid Speedway for what was a $2400-to-win feature event. Just before the feature event it was announced an extra $10K was up for grabs and the race became a whopping $12,400-to-win tilt.

Gridding the field from the ninth starting spot, the San Jose, CA driver spent much of the race fighting his way forward. Getting the Folkens Bros. Trucking/Dammer Trucking/Mihm Trucking No. 3 car into the second spot late in the race, TK began reeling in race leader, Troy Schreurs.

Getting alongside the leader with two-to-go, Kaeding would take the white flag in the second spot. As the duo raced side-by-side down the backstretch, Kaeding made his move in turns three and four and won the race in dramatic fashion.

Traveling to the Jackson Motorplex on Friday night, Kaeding would battle with the NSL Series where he would time in 15th fastest in qualifying time trials. From the sixth row of the feature event, Kaeding would show he was able to move forward on the ½ mile speedway as he clawed his way up inside the Top-10 where he would finish in the eighth spot.

Traveling back to the Badlands Motor Speedway on Saturday night, Kaeding would open his night up by qualifying seventh fastest aboard the Yager Ag Supply/Matt’s Repair/Trac2Trail Arctic Cat machine.

Winning his heat race, Kaeding would grid the field from the fourth row for the 25-lap feature event. Continuing his strong runs at the Badlands Motor Speedway, TK would work forward from the fourth row. Getting into the fourth spot, Kaeding would battle with Dusty Zomer late in the race but would have no success taking the final spot on the podium as he would finish fourth.

Sunday night’s 360ci action saw TK pick up a second place finish during his heat race, and spend much of the feature event battling with Terry McCarl. Fighting for the third spot, Kaeding would see McCarl get the spot and move to second, before he used a restart to get by Wade Nygard to take over the third spot.

With the early leader getting upside down, Kaeding would move into the second spot as he continued to chase after McCarl. Looking to pick up his second win of the week, Kaeding would settle for second place on this night.

“I have to continue to thank Dave Lunstra for putting me in a great spot with a great team,” Kaeding said. “We have a great hotrod right now, and we are in the mix and winning races.”

The Lunstra Motorsports team would like to thank Folkens Bros. Trucking, Dammer Trucking, Mihm Trucking, Yager Agriculture Supply, Matt’s Repair, and Trac2Trail Arctic Cat for their support in 2016.

ON TAP: TK and the Lunstra Motorsports team will be in action on Friday night at the Jackson Motorplex and on Saturday and Sunday at the Badlands Motor Speedway.
