PETERSEN MEDIA- Tim Kaeding and his Roth Motorsports team have been electrifying over the last few weeks, and the team continued their strong showing again over the weekend as Kaeding scored a fourth place finish at the Mini Gold Cup before finishing his weekend up with a 10th place effort at the Antioch Speedway.
“We had another great car, and another really good weekend on a couple of tracks that were tough to gain ground on,” Kaeding said.
Returning to a track where he has had so much success over the course of his career, Kaeding kicked things off at the Silver Dollar Speedway on Saturday night by timing his Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/3H Cattle No. 83JR machine in seventh fastest.
Starting in the second row of his heat race, the San Jose, CA wheelman picked up a second place finish in his heat race, and managed to sneak his way into the dash where he would finish in the second spot.
The track continued to go away as the night progressed, and Kaeding new the start would be critical. When the green flag fell, Donny Schatz was able to win the drag race into the first turn, and Kaeding would slip back to the third spot. Battling with Kerry Madsen for the show position, Kaeding would slip back to the fourth spot.
As the track began to take rubber, Kaeding had fallen back as far as the fifth spot, but was able to work his way back by Daryn Pittman late in the feature event, to reach the fourth spot, where he would ultimately finish.
“We had a car that was good enough to win I think, but I messed up on the start, and that killed us on a track that was pretty much single file,” Kaeding added.
Heading to the Antioch Speedway on Sunday night, Kaeding again turned in another strong qualifying effort as he timed in seventh fastest, before running fourth in his heat race.
Not so lucky on this night, Kaeding would not get a dash berth, and would start 10th on the extremely hooked up and narrow Antioch Speedway.
In a race that moved along very quickly, TK did everything he could to get his machine moving forward, on a surface that was just made for passing.
Trying some daring moves, Kaeding could go nowhere like the rest of the field, and would cross the stripe in the 10th spot.
“It’s been a blast driving for Dennis and Teresa Roth these last few weeks, and I really am thankful they have given me a chance to get a lot of racing in this early in year,” he added. “We have been really fast and hopefully we can get a win or two at Placerville this next week.”
The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, 3H Cattle, Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, KW Suspension, and Astro Titanium for their support in 2015.
