PETERSEN MEDIA- With weather pushing both sprint car divisions to Sunday night, Tim Kaeding and his Lunstra Motorsports team put together a strong effort that saw the San Jose, CA driver score a pair of second place finishes.

“In the 360ci race I didn’t drive hard enough in traffic and it probably cost us the win, and in the 410ci race I might have pushed the issue too hard and ran out of laps going for the win,” Tim Kaeding said.

Lining up fifth in his heat race in the 360ci program, TK would have his elbows up as he worked his Folkens Bros. Trucking/Dammer Trucking/Mihm Trucking No. 3 machine up to the second spot, which would place him in the nightly redraw.

Pulling the one pill, Kaeding would line up on the pole for the night’s feature event. Getting off to a great start, TK would set a torrid pace as he led the early part of the feature event.

Getting into lapped traffic, Kaeding’s challengers would close in on him as he was admittedly too patient with cars. In the closing laps of the race, Kaeding would slip to the second spot where he would go on to finish.

In the 410ci car, Kaeding was just as good as he would open the night up by timing the Yager Ag Supply/Matt’s Repair/Trac2Trail Arctic Cat backed entry in second quickest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, TK would mash the loud pedal aboard his Lunstra Motorsports machine as he picked up the win, and found himself in the second row of the A Main event.

Getting off to a great start, TK would work his way up to the second spot as he chased after Terry McCarl. Hounding McCarl with the race coming to a close, Kaeding would pull alongside him as he looked for some late race heroics to steal the big payday.

Simply running out of laps on Sunday night, Kaeding would close his night with his second runner-up finish.

Kaeding and company were also in action on Friday night at the Jackson Motorplex for a 360ci double feature night.

Lining up fourth in the first feature event of the night, Kaeding would get into the second spot as he chased after Ian Madsen in the closing stages of the race. With his car getting a little free, TK would hang on to finish in the second spot, which would line him up in the sixth row for the second feature event.

Making changes to his machine, Kaeding would get off to a nice start as he fought his way through the field. Working his way up into the fifth spot, Kaeding would then find himself battling with Casey Friedrichsen for position as his car was a little tight in traffic in this race.

With the checkered flag in the air, TK would close Friday night out with a fifth place finish.

“Overall it was a great weekend for this team,” Kaeding said. “We ran four feature events and finished second in three of them, so we know we are right there, and that wins are coming. I have to thank Dave (Lunstra) and all of his guys for their continued hard work and support.”

The Lunstra Motorsports team would like to thank Folkens Bros. Trucking, Dammer Trucking, Mihm Trucking, Yager Agriculture Supply, Matt’s Repair, and Trac2Trail Arctic Cat for their support in 2016.

ON TAP: TK and the Lunstra Motorsports team will be in Fairmont, MN on Thursday night with the NSL 360’s, with the NSL 410’s in Jackson, MN on Friday night and back at the Badlands Motor Speedway on Saturday and Sunday.
