TK Second at Badlands Motor Speedway Silver Shootout

PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting to Badlands Motor Speedway for a rare event in 2017, Tim Kaeding and Lunstra Motorsports flirted with a victory during the Silver Shootout only to come up just short and finish in the second spot.

“I checked up for some debris on the track and the yellow never waived and we got passed,” Tim Kaeding said. “I am still mad at myself about it.”

With 25 cars checked into the pit area for the Silver Shootout, Kaeding timed the Folkens Bros. Trucking/East River Homes/Dammer Trucking No. 3 machine in 10th fastest in qualifying time trials.

Winning his heat race over Mark Dobmeier, Kaeding would find himself on the front row of the 30-lap feature event that would pay it’s purse in bars of silvers just as it did in 2016.

Settling into the second spot when the race came alive, Kaeding would make his living on the cushion as he chased after the race lead. On the race’s seventh lap, the San Jose, CA driver would make his move as he sailed into the lead and began setting the pace out front.

Leading the next three laps, Kaeding would notice a bumper on the racing surface and briefly checked up as he figured the yellow flag would fly and it would allow Mark Dobmeier to get back by around him.

The yellow flag simply didn’t waive and Kaeding continued on in the second spot. Trying everything in his repotoire over the race’s final laps, Kaeding could not get back to the point and finished second in the Silver Shootout, bettering his 2016 effort by one position.

“We had the car to get the job done, but I just thought too much in the racecar and it cost us,” Kaeding said. “I apologize to my guys for letting them down, but we had a really good car. It’s a shame we finished second. Overall it was a good weekend for us, as we ran ninth on a tough track at Jackson Motorplex on Friday night.”

The Lunstra Motorsports team would like to thank Folkens Bros. Trucking, Dammer Trucking, Mihm Trucking, Yager Agriculture Supply, Matt’s Repair, East River Homes, and Trac2Trail Arctic Cat for their support in 2017.

ON TAP: Tim and Lunstra Motorsports will battle with the All Star Circuit of Champions this week as they will be at Wilmot Raceway on Saturday night and Angell Park Speedway on Sunday night. Both races will be streamed LIVE on TheCushion.com.
