PETERSEN MEDIA- Saturday night in Stockton, CA, Tony Gualda and the C&M Motorsports team bounced back from a tough July 4th and pocketed a fifth palce finish with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour.

“Have to thank Cody and Mandi for working so hard to get another car put back together after our incident at Placerville Speedway on Thursday,’ Tony Gualda said. “We had really good speed all night long, and I got hung out on restart and lost a couple spots, and we ended up finishing fifth.”

After a scary incident on Thursday night saw Gualda make hard contact with the Placerville Speedway fence, the team was back up and running on Saturday night in Stockton, CA.

Timing in third fastest in his group, Gualda would lay down some great laps in his heat race as he picked up the win aboard the Moorefield Construction, Inc./Hollister Auto Parts/Dassel’s Petroleum backed No. 7C.

Earning a berth in the Dash based on his heat race performance, Gualda would go from fourth to third in the four lap shootout, putting him in the second row for the 30-lap Sprint Car Challenge Tour feature event.

Jumping into second as the race came to life, and early red on the second lap would put the field in double file formation as Gualda now started alongside Shane Golobic.

When the green lights flashed back on, Gualda would get caught up in the crumbs and would lose a position to Tim Kaeding as he slipped back to third.

When the race ripping off 24 laps non stop, Gualda would work the low side of the speedway as he chased after Kaeding and Golobic. As the laps clicked off, Gualda would fight an ailing nose wing, and it would make maneuvering a little more difficult on the high horse power facility.

Slipping back to fifth, Gualda would cap his weekend off with a fifth place finish.

“It was another solid night for our race team, and I have to thank Cody, Mandi, MF, and everyone that helps us out and supports us,” Gualda said. “It was a trying week, but these guys stick with it, and it really shows.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Moorefield Construction, Inc., Hollister Auto Parts, Dassel’s Petroleum, PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.

ON TAP: Gualda and C&M Motorsports are geared up for a return to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.
