PETERSEN MEDIA- Though Thursday and Friday would be less than ideal nights for Tony Gualda and C&M Motorsports, the team never flinched and came out swinging on Saturday night as Gualda gained a ton of points in heat race action to find himself in the ‘B’, where he would then charge from 20th and narrowly miss the transfer into the ‘A’

“We had great speed on Thursday night but unfortunately we came up light at the scales and we ended up having to throw that night out, and on Friday we looked to be on our way to transferring into the feature until a last lap incident got me up into the wall and spun out.”

Laying down a very strong lap during Friday night’s time trials, Gualda would time the Moorefield Construction, Inc./Hollister Auto Parts/PitStopUSA backed No. 7c machine in sixth quickest in his group.

Lining up fifth in his heat race, the Hollister, CA wheelman would finish sixth and find himself on the pole of one of the twin ‘B’ Mains. Getting off to a tough start which saw him miss his line, Gualda would slip back and find himself in the fourth and final transfer position as he battled with Carson Macedo and Sean Becker.

Continuing to run in the fourth and final transfer position, Gualda would encounter a slower car in the final two corners on the race’s last lap. Forced to lift, Gualda would get sucked up into the wall and it would spin him out, ultimately ending his night.

Bound and determined to have a good showing on Saturday night, Gualda would do all he could in heat race action as he picked up the important win and waited to see how the points shook out.

Gualda’s result would make up a ton of points as it would propel him into the ‘B’ Main where he would still have a monumental task as he gridded the field from the 20th starting position.

Mired in the back of the field against a field that would be a tough feature event starting line up on any give night, Gualda did not flinch as he quickly jumped up into 12th within the race’s first couple of laps. Cracking the Top-10 in the first nine laps, Gualda would continue to run the ragged edge as he approached Kyle Hirst and Kasey Kahne who were battling for the fifth position.

As Hirst and Kahne touched, Gaulda would use his momentum to blow by both of them and chase after Tanner Thorson who had the fourth and final transfer position.

Though he would give it his all, Gualda would simply come up one spot short as his Trophy Cup would come to a close.

“It was great to end our weekend like we did,” Gualda said. “I would have loved to come through the ‘B’ and make the show, but to fight back like that was really cool. Huge thanks to Cody, Mandi, and everyone that helped us out all week and stood behind me.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Moorefield Construction, Inc., Hollister Auto Parts, PitStopUSA, PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.

ON TAP: Gualda and C&M Motorsports will return to action on November 3rd in Stockton, CA for the Sprint Car Challenge Tour Season finale.
