Tony Gualda Looking to Return to Form During Doubleheader Weekend

PETERSEN MEDIA- Having engine issues during the feature event on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, Tony Gualda and C&M Motorsports will look at returning to form during a big Sprint Car Challenge Tour doubleheader weekend in Placerville, CA and Petaluma, CA.

“We had good speed, but unfortunately our night ended with a hurt engine,” Gualda said. “Big thanks to Cody, MF, and Mandi for all of their hard work. We are all looking forward to a doubleheader this weekend.”

Timing the C&M Motorsports entry in eighth quickest in qualifying time trials, Gualda would jump out to the early lead in his heat race. Grabbing the win, the Hollister, CA pilot qualified for the redraw where the 1 pill put him on the pole for the 25-lap feature event.

When the race came to life, Gualda would slip back to third as he would hook up in an intense battle with Kalib Henry and Andy Forsberg for second. The first 14 laps of the feature event would rip off with no stoppages, and fans were treated to a three-car battle for the runner up spot.

When the caution did finally fly, Gualda had cut down a right rear tire and made his way up the ramp to the work area as he gave up prime track position. Able to make repairs, Gualda would return for a few laps before something in the engine let go and ended his night.

“I was hoping we had seen the last of our bad luck, but unfortunately it got us on Saturday,” Gualda said. “I hate it for everyone, but we will do our homework this week and get ready for Saturday and Sunday.

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Moorefield Construction, Inc., Hollister Auto Parts, Dassel’s Petroleum, PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.

ON TAP: Gualda and C&M Motorsports will return to racing action on Saturday night in Placerville, CA, and Sunday in Petaluma, CA.

2019 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-14, Wins-1, Top 5’s-5, Top 10’s-11.
