PETERSEN MEDIA- Continuing his first full season at the helm of the C&M Motorsports No. 7c machine, Tony Gualda showed patience on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway as he made up ground late in the feature event to finish ninth.

“We started 15th and couldn’t really get going as it was pretty congested in the middle of the field,” Tony Gualda said. “I kept telling myself to be patent, and at the end of the race we got going and really moved forward to finish ninth. Darin and Cody really have this car rolling right now, and I am looking forward to a ton of laps this weekend.”

Timing the Pacific Highway Rentals/Moorefield Construction/PitStopUSA No. 7c machine in 15th quickest in time trials amongst the 42 cars checked into the pit area, Gualda would find himself on the front row of his heat race. Getting called for a jump on the race’s initial start he would be back a row and end up with a fourth place finish which was good enough to advance into the 25-lap feature event.

Lining up in the 15th starting position, Gualda would run in the 16th spot for the opening laps as he raced in an extremely tight pack of cars in the opening laps. Falling back to 17th at one point, Gualda would then slowly the Autism Awareness/PT Shocks/Swartz Diesel machine going in the right direction.

Taking advantage of a couple of double-file restarts, the Hollister, CA product would race into the 14th spot where he ran for a majority of the race. A lap 20 restart would see Gulada rocket into the 10th spot, and a final restart on lap 22 would see him get another position as he overtook ninth where he would go on to finish.

“Losing our front row starting spot in the heat race hurt us a little because we had a good shot at making the redraw,” Gualda added. “I really felt like I got going at the end, so I’m very much looking forward to the 40-lap feature back at the track on Friday night.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank PitStopUSA, Autism Awareness, Pacific Highway Rentals, Moorefield Construction, Inc., PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, 51 Fifty Energy Drink, Alturas Tires, and Velocity Race Gear and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.

ON TAP: The C&M Motorsports team and Tony Gualda will return to Placerville Speedway on Friday night and will be at Stockton Dirt Track on Saturday night. Both races will be with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour.
