PETERSEN MEDIA- Though it is entirely too early to even look into points battles, Tony Gualda will look back on Saturday night as a key night should he win what is shaping up to be a tight championship fight at Placerville Speedway, after overcoming a nightmarish start to his night and finishing seventh.
“Our night started off just about as bad as it could,” Tony Gualda said. “We hurt an engine during hot laps, missed time trials, and were stuck in the back all night. Luckily Cody, MF, and everyone that helps us out gave me a good car and we were able to persevere.”
Coming up lame during the first lap of hot-laps, the mad scramble was on for Gualda and the C&M Motorsports team. Hoping they had an issue rectified, the team would push out for time trials, but with the car not firing they would opt to make a change.
Just narrowly making it out for his heat race, the Hollister, CA driver would use the heat as his hot lap session as he managed to pick up a couple of positions and finish sixth.
Starting scratch on the field, Gualda would keep a cool head on his shoulders as he battled through thick traffic just trying to keep his nose clean and be in the hunt at the end of the night.
Continuing to work through traffic, and use restarts to his advantage, Gualda would recover well as he picked up a seventh place finish aboard the Moorefield Construction/Hollister Auto Parts/PitStopUSA/Dassel’s Petroleum backed machine.
“I have to thank everyone that stepped in and helped us change engines,” Tony Gualda said. “It was pretty cool to see so many people lending a helping hand to help us get back on track. Thanks to Cody and Mandi for continuing to stick with me. Looking forward to getting to my favorite track this weekend.”
The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Moorefield Construction, Inc., Hollister Auto Parts, PitStopUSA, Dassel’s Petroleum, PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.
ON TAP: Gualda and C&M Motorsports will now follow the SCCT to Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA this Friday and Saturday night for the Peter Murphy Classic.
2019 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-9, Wins-1, Top 5’s-4, Top 10’s-9.
