PETERSEN MEDIA- Fresh off of his first career winged sprint car win a couple weeks back, Tony Gualda and the C&M Motorsports team continued to flex their muscles early in 2019 as Gualda charged from 22nd to finish seventh on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway.

“Our car was really fast, and that is a testament to Cody and everyone that works on this thing,” Tony Gualda said. “Aside from a little bobble on the start of our heat race, we really had a strong night against a stout field.”

Earning quick time honors amongst the 32 cars checked in to open the 2019 Sprint Car Challenge Tour campaign, Gualda would get bottled up on the start of his heat race and actually fell back out of a transfer position.

Ending up with a seventh place finish aboard the Moorefield Construction, Inc./Hollister Auto Parts/PitStopUSA backed NO. 7c machine, Gualda would make a stop in the 15-lap ‘B’ Main for one final shot at moving into the feature.

Finishing second to Ryan Bernal in the semi, the Hollister, CA product punched his ticket into the 35-lap feature event where he would roll off the starting grid from the 22nd position.

When the race came to life, Gualda would waste no time working his way forward as he got into ninth within the race’s first nine circuits. Once inside the Top-10, Gualda would begin to battle some of the best in the West on a tricky Placerville Speedway surface.

Battling with the likes of Justin Sanders and Shane Golobic, Gualda would cap his night with a hard charge effort as he finished seventh.

“I had a blast working through the field and battling Justin (Sanders) and Shane (Golobic) there for a while,” Gualda added. “Thanks to Cody and Mandi for all their continued support as well as MF for always working so hard for our team.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Moorefield Construction, Inc., Hollister Auto Parts, PitStopUSA, PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.

ON TAP: Gualda and C&M Motorsports will return to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.

2019 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-2, Wins-1, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-2.
