PETERSEN MEDIA- Amidst a hotly contested championship battle at Placerville Speedway, Tony Gualda had another great not on the hill as he used a late move to net another podium as he garnered a third place finish.
“It was another good night,’ Tony Gualda said. “We were quick time, went forward in our heat and went forward from seventh on a pretty good track with a top and bottom. Big thanks to Cody, Mandi, MF, and everyone who helps this race team out.”
With 32 cars checked in as the lights turned back on at Placerville Speedway for the first time since early May, Gualda paced the field in time trials as he earned quick time honors aboard the Moorefield Construction, Inc./Hollister Auto Parts/Dassel’s Petroleum backed No. 7c entry.
Going from fourth to third in his heat race, the Hollister, CA driver would pull the seven pill in the redraw and take the green flag from the fourth row to start the 25-lap feature event.
Falling back to seventh initially, Gualda would make a nice move on the fifth lap to get back up into fifth and battle for position inside the Top-Five. Working around the slick Placerville Speedway surface that had two lines for drivers to use, Gualda would work into third on the 10th lap as he pressured Andy Forsberg and Shane Golobic.
As the leaders raced hard, Gualda would soon find himself in a hotly contested battle as Kalib Henry began waging war on each other over the final position on the podium.
Exchanging the position several times over the final four laps of the feature event, Gualda would use a late restart setting up a green-white-checkered finish to get by Henry out of turn four coming to the flag stand to take the third position.
“We were right there, battling with the leaders and then we hooked up in a pretty good battle with Kalib Henry,” Gualda said. “Good to get on the podium again, and looking forward to another night at Placerville on Saturday.”
The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Moorefield Construction, Inc., Hollister Auto Parts, Dassel’s Petroleum, PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.
ON TAP: Gualda and C&M Motorsports will return to racing action on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway.
